Transom saver works great! Took the boat out on a 6 hour round trip over the weekend and it held the motor perfectly. I have to admit, I only have a 9.5hp motor. This product is rated up to 150hp motors. I can’t speak to that kind of strength, but it stands up to my motor with no issues at all. The only thing that didn’t work out for my situation is the rubber strap. Even the short one was too long for my motor. Luckily I was able to use one I already had. But if you need a transom saver for your smaller outboard, get this one. ... show more

Used it on a recent trip almost 700 miles of not very good roads. Held up fine. Since my hydraulics gave out the day before the trip I used a ratchet strap to hold the motor shaft against the cross bar of the trailer putting force opposite to the transom saver. Now I think this is the way to do it all the time. did not see a single bounce of the motor and everything was great. It would be nice to show in the instructions how to properly set the length of the bar. Otherwise I put this together in about 15 min in the dark just before leaving (ordered it 2 days before the actual trip). Good product. Thanks! ... show more

This is the 2nd transom saver I have bought from extreme max. The first I had on my previous boat for about 5 years and never had any issues and it provided awesome support, I expect nothing less from this one as they are built with quality and strength. The one thing I would say is there is some assembly required and I actually had to drill one extra hole in this one to get it to set where I wanted, but it was pretty easy to assemble if you are mechanically inclined at all. Works great on my Boat

    • works but not perfect
due to lower unit to close to ground , wanted something to support my 9.9 hp out board traveling with the 14 ft aluminum boat , problem was the back of the boat over hangs the rear cross member on the trailer by about 18 inches . a straight transom saver would not work, found this one and easily installed it only had to drill a hole for the mounting bracket . just needs little mods to work better . With motor attached securely on rubber V block I pulled up on the lower unit and the twisted part of the rod can still pull of the hole in the mounting bracket where it screws in to by about and 1/2 to 3/4 inch. I don't think just the weight of the motor will keep it from moving in and out of the hole in the mount causing ware to hole and rod. and defeats keeping the motor from bouncing on a rough road . simple fix for that , I put rachet strap around the lower unit and attached to each side of the trailer and it holds the twisted part of the rod from moving in and out of the hole it fits into . I the other thing I noticed when the transom saver is in place, the diameter of the rod and the hole are almost the same diameter where it makes contact against the mounting plate . over time I wonder if the rod would begin to ware in to the hole where the twisted rod goes through ? I would keep an eye on that , I am thinking about welding a thick flat washer on the rod where it rest on the mount plate to give it a larger surface area to rest against . If I go slow on bumpy roads this should hopefully work well and not bend or break . ... show more
