    • LOVE the variety & cutting ease!
I used this awesome book to make Artist Trading Cards. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy these are to cut, especially since I have carpal tunnel, and how well arranged the subject matter is. The outlines around the images are really helpful, too. The only thing I might change is to have some more face/people imagery and to make the pages a bit thicker because they are delicate and could tear easily if not careful. I think the thinness is what makes them easy to cut, though, so as long as I’m careful, I’m all good. Highly recommend this book for those who want an almost endless supply of creativity and inspiration! ... show more

Love the quality of this book. The paper is great, the images are great. This book sets the standard for me. I have decided that my collage books have to come from UK producers if I want the best quality for my work.

    • Almost too nice to cut up
I ordered this to see why it's so popular and see if I could solve the mystery of why it's apparently out of print. Well, it's popular because it's magnificent. The paper quality is astonishingly good, and very heavy. In fact, it's heavier than any art book I own. The images are varied and fun and fantastical, too. Everything about this book is impressive. I'm wondering if it's out of print because some images may have been copyrighted, or could be disputed. Some graphics in the book are definitely more recent than the usual date when works become public domain. So, I'm glad I own this. But... there SO much about this book that I love, I don't want to cut it up. Even to make art. And frankly, I'd have to break the binding even to scan some of the images. I'm trying to get past my foibles, but - for now - this book sits in my bookcase where I can take it off the shelf and admire it regularly. I applaud the author and the amount of work it took to create this book. It's top quality, and truly unique in the field. ... show more

    • Great variety
I don't even know where to begin! There's a reason this book is one of the most popular-if not the most popular cut & collage book out there. It has every subject you could want, in varying sizes. I do artist trading cards, and many of these images (not all) are perfect sizes or can be trimmed down to fit. One thing I dislike is that this book doesn't come with a downloadable PDF like many other collage books do. When working with papercrafts resizing images sometimes is important-actually, most of the time it is. There's also the chance you mess up the card you're working on and want to restart it. It happens to everyone at some point! All in all, love this book & would repurchase over and over, just wish it had a PDF as well! ... show more

    • LOVE the one sided pages
One sided pages is a huge bonus. There's also a really great selection of things, however, I do wish there were more pages of people, buildings, and cars, and maybe less dogs, cats, plants. I can't see myself using those last three a ton in the pages. I would have even loved more classic art and sculpture pages, too! The paper is a nice quality, too. Not too glossy, not too matte, nice and think. It doesn't stick out like a sore thumb when I mix it in with magazine clippings I've found in the "wild." Overall, a fun addition to your collage supplies. Some of the pictures are very specific and you might be holding on to for a while, but hey, if you need a giant poodle or cat, you know you've got one in here. ... show more

if you’re looking for a good base to start your collage and other works; check out this book! “Extraordinary Things to Cut Out and Collage” •• Maria Rivams | there’s over 1500 unique graphics of all sizes that range in many different content. the book has a very helpful chapter that covers on basic tools and materials to get started, tips and tricks on how to embed multiple layers , manually manipulating graphics to create blending and depth. i recommend this to every collage artist as a must have! the graphic topics range from renaissance art to butterflies to anatomy. the graphic are very sharp and vibrant! they are also printed one sided so you don’t have to sacrifice any and you can utilize every single graphic. i should also mention these are clipping you have to cut with an exacto knife or scissors. all graphics contain a white guide border around them that make cutting them out super easy! don’t miss out by not getting this. the sheer amount of material is perfection at the price point. this book is one of my favorite purchases. it is going to stay with me through hundreds of different projects. please do yourself a favor and add this one to your collection! ... show more
