8 year Update (summer of 2022). Still 5 stars and still recommend this product after owning this for 8 years. We finally replaced this wooden flag pole after 8 years of being outside. It was showing it age (cracks, fade, and mold). Not bad for an item that is outdoor 24/7. I am sure this will last longer if you stained or sealed it every year. We didn't. BLUF: 1) See pictures. If pictures are not displayed in the product description then you can view the pictures on my profile. Click "View All" to see the pictures. 2) High Quality. 3) Last over 2yrs in the outdoor during wind, rain, snow, heat, etc. 4) If you are looking for an outdoor adjustable flag holder/mounting bracket then I recommend the HWWHITEADJ . Amazon has it for under $20. It is a little expensive but definitely worth it because the holder is heavy duty/high quality. I am an OEF and OIF veteran but never flew the American flag unless it was during 4th of July. The main reason is because we live in a very windy part of Oklahoma. It is so windy that the local power company installed windmills on all the hills near our development. So with that my biggest concern was finding the right flag pole that will survive in our "harsh" conditions. One day my wife bought me this flag pole and told me that she think it is a good idea if we fly our American flag 24/7 to display our pride and patriotism (we are both naturalized citizens). I mounted the flag pole into our metal pole bracket and didn't think it would last because of the windy condition here. Surprisingly, after 2yrs of 24hrs/7days a week usage the flag pole have held up very well. The pole is not warp or show any cracks. In summary, if you want a high quality product that will last in the outdoors and under harsh weather conditions (heat, wind, etc) then look no further. You need to buy this product. The features I like about this product: 1) Real Wood 2) Looks pretty especially with the cap Some Application Tips: 1) The wood pole might be a little smaller (in diameter) when fitting into your bracket. If this is the case then just wrapped the pole in a few layers of tape (masking, duct, electrical, etc) and this will give you enough tension to snuggly fit the pole inside any bracket. Fit into flagpole holder fine. Had a clip at the top and screw at the bottom which could be easily adapted to work for any flag I had even if they were not specifically designed for that particular style. Used it at my cafe for 7 years. It did lose it’s finish after 4-5 years in the weather but still worked adequately ... show more

Great price but I would have appreciated knowing that the flag used with this pole would need a sleeve to slide the flag into as opposed to the 2 clips on other poles I have.

    • Very straight 6-foot wooden banner and flag pole. Fits all large garden banners.

I change banner themes (outside the house, over the garden) from season to season and needed a pole that will stand up to the elements here in the Pacific Northwest. I had an aluminum pole with a built-in rotating sleeve that was supposed to rotate with the banner in the wind, but it just corroded and froze up, and never worked. This product is a single pole only, and is fitted with a single clip (up at the top) that keeps the flag/banner from slipping down the pole, and rotates as the banner is flipped by the wind. The clip/collar assembly that comes with most of these poles does not usually spin as freely as it needs to keep the banner straight, so I also purchased a set of these collar/clips to attach to BOTH ends of the flag. I just removed the clip that was on this pole and replaced with the newer, beefier ones. Jury is still out on that too, but if you make correct adjustments, having the dual clip should ensure that the banner rotates freely and does not become wrapped around the pole. There are several of these clip/collar products on Amazon that you can purchase (very cheap), and this pole will accommodate most of them (approx 1" diameter pole). I read in the description (or possibly from other reviewers) that you don't need the sleeve on the pole that turns with the flag. That's not true. And this pole doesn't come with a sleeve - just the hook at the ball end to hold the flag in place. However, when a moderate breeze blows your flag a few times, you'll find that the flag gets tangled up in the pole because there is no sleeve to rotate with it. The pole looked nice at first, but less than a year in Wisconsin weather and the pole looks worse than the one it replaced. And that pole was used for nearly four years. I recommend finding a pole with a sleeve and possibly something more durable than simple wood. Or you'll be replacing your flagpole every year. ... show more
