  • ESSENTIAL for Peak Espresso Extraction
I was skeptical at first in getting one of these but I am definitely a believer now. The WDT tool allows you to evenly distribute and break up any clumps that may occur when transferring the grounds to the portafilter basket. I've definitely noticed a difference as it has decreased channeling to allow and even flow of extraction. I use this in combination with other tools like a leveler to help me make that puck of condensed coffee as flat and uniform as possible. It's a great tool to have in your back pocket and i use it every time now! ... show more

  • I would definitely consider buying a different one, that protects the needles
I like how it works to stir and level ground coffee, no complaints there. I made a mistake in purchasing this, as the needles aren't protected, and people aren't protected from the needles, so I had to find a safe place to store it.

  • Needles aren’t fine enough
Not the greatest distributor. There are too many needles and they end up pushing the grounds around too much and causing clumps up against the sides of my dosing funnel. It shouldn’t push them around into little piles. The needles should move freely through the grounds like sand. Many reviewers suggested only using four needles, which is a smart idea and I will try that going forward. Storing this is awkward too. The needles are long and therefor, very flexible so I’m afraid of bending the needles if I put into a drawer so it lives on top of my espresso machine. Again, reviewers suggest trimming them to make them shorter and more usable. Another good suggestion but for the money, I really hate that you are forced to modify what should be a fairly simple tool. Not a huge fan of how the needles are held in either, which I believe is just tension. If I still had the box, I’d return it. ... show more

  • Not terribly useful.
I assumed it was assembled when I bought it, however assembling it is difficult and you can easily make the tines too loose and unusable. You have to poke the tines into a material that is semi-soft and it's supposed to stick. My experience was different though. Some of the tines continue to stay loose and wobbly. They also fall out when you try to use it. ... show more

  • Overall reasonable for the price but could use some improvements.
Packaging was great overall. The handle came in a plastic sleeve and the needles came in a plastic bag. All pieces came in a printed box with somewhat mistranslated English instructions with pictures. There were 10 needles and only 8 are needed, so spares are given which is great. Packaging wise, it would have been nice if the needles were inserted into the bag with the sharp end down, rather than up like how the ones I received came. I was careful and didn't poke myself, but could see how someone could poke themselves when removing them from the bag. The handle ergonomics are enjoyable for my average sized male hands and it feels solid for the price. Assembly could use some improvement, as inserting each needle required multiple left and right movements during insertion, rather than just inserting it and being locked in. They all went in though! Once each needle is inserted all the way (the base of each is no longer visible) they are friction fit, but can be pulled out using your hand with little effort. That said, when I attempted to fling the handle, as someone would fling a pen when attempting to get ink to flow towards the tip, all 8 needles stayed inserted with none of them inching forward. Mentally they seem not locked in enough, but physically they appear to be fine. I may place a very small amount of glue at each point just in case though. Overall a reasonable distributor for the price that could use some improvements. EDIT: I have been using the distributor for just under a month and it's been working great. None of the needles have fallen out, nor have I had to push them back in. One thing I did notice is since the needles are a bit long and not stiff, they push around the coffee in clumps, rather than reduce clumps. Not too helpful. However, removing every other needle, which results in 4 needles remaining installed, really improves the usability and results in better shots for me. ... show more
