I am a long suffering veteran of the "bed wars" (for more than 45 years), having tried traditional, memory foam and air/foam adjustable (you know, the really expensive one). Now, I am giving hybrids a shot. FORGET traditional mattresses. They have always disappointed. You know the drill. They start out okay, but then begin sagging within a year or less if you're any bigger than an 8-year-old. I absolutely hated sleeping in "the hole". The ridiculously expensive air/foam was okay, but generally "meh". Despite having dual controls on the king size mattress, it always seemed that his side affected mine and I couldn't get it "dialed in". Looking back, it did me no good physically and it was actually quite cold to sleep on (even with a premium mattress pad) because of the air mattress portion, I think. The memory foam was really quite comfortable, but in the end didn't offer as much support as I needed for my bad back (stenosis). It's a medium support mattress. Also, I tended to get a bit overheated on it, despite the supposed gel cooling layer. We moved it to our guest room because it's still a decent mattress. Now, for the hybrid. I purchased this mattress mainly because I had recently slept on a hybrid at my sister-in-law's, and I had gotten the best night's sleep in THREE DECADES. She told me that she'd purchased what she thought was a fairly cheap model (LOL - not!) several years ago for her guest bedroom, but everyone who stays on it loves it. True, it wasn't this brand and was more than I wanted to spend, so I decided to see if I could find a good alternative on Amazon. Well, as you can see from the photos, this one expands fully (photos taken after about 12 hours after opening). Hubby and I waited about 48 hours before sleeping on it, but probably could've done so after the 12 hours. FYI, we are not fly-weights (he's 245 lbs., and I am 175). You should also know that we both have chronic sleep issues (he has a bit of apnea; I have had insomnia for 30 years). Okay ... two nights in and I can tell you that we've both slept without interruption for 7 hours each night. WOW! Not only is the mattress comfortable, it offers great support (the medium firm is just right for us - not too firm, but definitely firmer than medium) and we keep a cool, regulated body temp all night. The topper provides more than adequate cushioning and the springs make no noise whatsoever (and, yes, we've subjected it to the ultimate "litmus test" - wink, wink). I suppose if you're going for the "nest" experience, you could get an additional foam topper, but really it's not necessary for most of us. The edges are fully supported and you won't slip off when you put your shoes on as there is NO sagging when you sit on the edge. Bottom line: No aches or pains, no back issues, just restful sleep! Oh yeah, at a BARGAIN PRICE, TOO! There is a God! And, no, my name is not Goldilocks. Buy the bed if you need a firmer, yet super comfortable, mattress. You won't regret it. I promise.
