The figures are 1:64 scale but the barn is big! I suppose some dairy barns are big but it looks oversized on a 1:64 train layout.

We recently ordered this for my son's birthday. I remember playing with Ertl when I was a kid- it brought back so many happy memories! I was expecting the Barn to come put together, so that was a little disapointing but not enought to make it not worth it. I would say just be careful and maybe have an adult snap the pieces into place. My son was really exited and wanted to help and was trying to just shove everything together, so we stepped in. I could see how it maybe easy for a locking part to just snap if you let a child (or for that matter an impatient adult) attempt building. The only real negitive thing that I could see is that the roof "vents" (the 2 little chimney things on top) do not snap into place. they just sit there so they tent to topple off if your little one bumps it or tries to get the cows into the barn door. Also if you purchase the farm house too be sure to place the window shutter stickers BEFORE you put the house together.... it was a pain trying to put them on after because of the wrap around porch and over hang. We can't wait to expand the set! ... show more

    • So cute! Perfect with the Ertl Case tractors and Thomas trains!
This is model quality ! For an almost 4 year old, we left the tiny parts out and keep the roof detachable so he can run the tractors inside and out. Mine was a damaged box item from the warehouse but no problems at all. I got all the correct pieces and it went/stays together no problem. We pretend it is part of Sodor and carry the cows in Thomas the Train. :) BUY IT!! ... show more

I bought this for my grand daughter who loves creating villages and scenes with her blocks and 1/64 size animals and action figures like soldiers, cowboys and indians, and jungle animals. She wanted cows so this really fit the bill because it had a barn too! Relatively easy to assemble although the pieces didn't snap together as securely as I expected. We ended up gluing all roof pieces together for easier removal for her little hands. The pieces are quite attractive and the fences make it easy for her to create her own settings. Really disappointed in this play set. Bought it as a birthday gift for my nephew. The material is cheap and flimsy. Can not complete the setup/build as the kit had a duplicate right side part for the shed that connects to the barn. Emailed ERTL and told them about the duplicate part and included a photo. They mailed a replacement immediately. When I was a kid ERTL was a good brand, obviously things have changed. ... show more

I did not expect to have to assemble this, and I hate instructions with simplistic pictures & no words. Also, ends up being rather flimsy and wobbly. I had planned to store some tractors & other farm items in it. It is big enough for that, but requires taking roof off each time which will make it even less sturdy. It's like having a gingerbread barn that before long all the pieces will fall apart. ... show more

My son bought this second set to attach to the first one, so he can have a bigger farm. He just wishes there were some silos with this!

My son, who is now 32, had this same set when he was 4. Now buying it for my grandson, it's still the wonderful construction of the one I bought my son. The only difference is some of the cows eyes sort of missed the socket when painted but that's ok, I still have Andrews cows. This is an excellent purchase for making farm play areas with artificial grass and sand like used in train sets. ... show more
