Description

Ergon took it upon themselves to focus on all kinds of persistent seating problems in mountain biking. Based on the the great success of the SM saddle series now come additonal models for 2020 - further refined for even more comfort. The orthopedic foam is thicker, softer and creates a large contact area. Features a flat seat for dynamic sitting in different postitions without tilting effects. In typical Ergon fashion there are gender specific versions of the new SMC saddles, each one anatomically designed for fitting male and female riders. Womens typically ride with high pressure in the genital area, which is exactly where the specific relief channel makes things right. In the male specific model the pronounced, rearward postitioned relfief channel provided maximum relief in the sensitive perineal area.

I use it with a Cane Creek G4 Thudbuster LT Suspension Seat Post. It is very comfortable. It prevents you from getting numb that other saddles can cause. At the same time it helps to get the most out of the suspension post.

Feels more like sitting on a chair than a saddle. No groin numbness after riding. I commute with a mtb because my area is extremely hilly. I have my seat nose pointed down and a suspension seat post and it's extremely comfortable (I usually prefer a wider seat). Only negative is my wife can't ride this because of how skinny the seat is. There is a newer model called the smc core which I wish i had a chance to compare. Apparently that one is better for your back/hips but costs ~$40-50 more. I have no back or hip issues, but I found out about it after I already bought this one and tossed the packaging. If i get another seat it will likely be ergon again and try the core. This one is definitely the most comfortable saddle I have ever used. I don't wear the weird looking padded bike pants when ride and carry a backpack 20+ miles some days without pain. ... show more

I loved everything about this seat from the looks to the amount of relief in the Perineum area. This seat eliminated all numbness I was experiencing in that area after long rides on my old seat. Unfortunately, I was unable to keep it and it's really my own problem. As my wife likes to point out, now that I am AARP eligible, my backside seems to be diminishing on me more and more each year. Even with the gel version, I quickly felt soreness on my sit bones. It was even more unpleasant than the previous Perineum numbness. So...the search continues for a seat with a little more padding in the areas I am lacking. If not for that, this is a totally awesome seat in all respects. If you come with some of your own padding, go for it! ... show more

Really impressed with this seat. It’s still a firm MTB seat, but compared to my stock seat on my Giant Stance, it really lived up to its design claims. It almost feels the same when you press your finger into it, but riding all day is where you notice how well it works.
