I’m newer to embroidery and found myself with around 100+ skeins of floss. I was doing well enough but this product solved a need I had when I misplaced the floss I was using and struggled to find the exact color. I greatly appreciate the organization and space this is going to save me. I like that you can remove some dividers to create longer spaces. I plan to use longer spaces like that for my pen, needles, and various other tools. I am a fanatic for little tasks like this so I’m excited to get all of my skeins labeled and put on the cards these come with. I think it will make my process much easier. It also included a second wind up device which I wasn’t aware of upon order but find it will likely be useful down the line. I’m not certain this will fit all of my skeins but even if I can get most of them in here I’ll be quite happy. I like that the box is clear so I can see the colors from the outside. Fantastic product. Removable walls make it modular and flexible for storing a variety of items. The bobbins and winders are good quality and easy to use. The DMC numbered stickers are a very nice touch, as are the blanks.

    • An excellent choice for organizing your thread
Perfect for what I wanted -- tons of bobbins and a great place to store them that is flexible for storing other items. If you have a lot of thread, you will probably end up using it all for thread, at least the first one you buy. It holds a lot, maybe 100 skeins if some are already partially used. The numbers I got did not include numbers for variegated DCM thread, however there are blank labels you can write on. So far, the numbers have stayed on well; you can also write the numbers on the plastic bobbins, if you prefer. They take Sharpie and pencil, although the latter can be hard to see. There were a couple of broken bobbins, but no problem, since there are soooo many. A few have rough bits from the stamping, but those can be broken off easily. The only thing you really don't need here is the winders. They are cute, and work well if you follow the instructions at this site, but it is faster and easier to wind by hand, so I eventually stopped using them. I feel like I paid extra for those, so took a star off when I realized I didn't really need them. I feel sure I will buy another box as my thread collection grows, if I can find one just like it without the winders -- really the perfect way to manage all that thread. ... show more

Recd in great condition,started the bobbins right away, the little winder works really well you gotta place it in a T position of the box in middle part of 2 spaces at the edge for it to be as steady as possible ir else it will be wobbly n useless as some reviewer said! It makes winding the floss so fast in a min for a whole floss the numbers are a bonus addition. For some reason the white colored bobbins are thicker the the pink n blues so its harder to push into the winder but w some effort it still works n there are 2 in the box! ... show more

This is my favourite thing related to my embroidery practice so far. Having my bits of thread be neatly organized really tickles my brain something fierce. The container itself feels pretty sturdy with the closure. I really like that inserts so you can add more than just the bobbins to the container. The thread winder didn't seem to fit comfortably on the container but that might just be user error. The bobbins are almost too short to fit in the container so when you have them in the slots it's kind of tough to get them out. Those are such small gripes though cos I REALLY REALLY love using this thing and I absolutely need another one! ... show more

Great kit with plenty of bobbins and 2 winders. The winders are OK, but they only fit on the front or back of the box. It's also a loose fit, but that didn't stop me from being able to wind my floss on the bobbins. The winders assemble quite easily and I was able to insert the bobbins with a strong push. The bobbins came in 3 colors: blue, pink, and clear. The box seems to be sturdy enough for plenty of floss and the lid is secure with clips. ... show more

    • Really Good Deal for the Money
I wouldn't say that this is an absolute 5 out of 5 (more like 4.5 out of 5) but such a good deal for the cost. Not only does it come with thousands of stickers to label your embroidery floss by number, it comes with blank ones as well. Just note that you can't really use the winder after putting a sticker label on the bobbin. If you're writing your own label, work from the top left down because ink will smudge. Also, give your ink time to dry. I use sakura micron pens, which usually dry quickly and are totally waterproof, but even these take longer to dry on the labels, for some reason. The bobbins... 5 stars, all the way! Infinitely better than cardboard ones. I used to make my own, but these make life easier, don't warp like cardboard ones, and save you time. I also like that you get translucent, pink translucent, and white ones. Suggestions for using the 2 bobbin winders that are included: It may be a little bit difficult to put the pieces together and to figure out where on the box the bottom attaches. Once you attach the base of the winder, put the side of the bobbin with the CIRCLE in the winder. Then shimmy or wiggle the circle to coincide with the circle on the winder (warning- it's a tight fit) and use the peg to hold the bobbin in place. Then, proceed to wind your floss, secure it, remove the peg, pull the bobbin out of the winder, and label is LAST. To be honest, I bough this particular set because I thought the bobbin winders would make life so much easier, but I've ended up preferring to wind by hand because it's quicker, and I don't have to remove and restick my label if I am adding more embroidery floss to a bobbin. All-in-all, this set comes with so many accessories, it's definitely worth it! ... show more
