Description

Vinyl LP pressing. This debut emerged as one of the most influential rap albums of the '90s. It laid the groundwork for the rebirth of New York hip- hop, an underground, hardcore new sound that went on to influence Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, and Mobb Deep, among others. Rap became at once theatrical and cerebral, MCs lyricists and powerhouses capable of violence, metaphor, humor and revolution in their performing. The album is full of hard, gritty beats, references to pop culture and martial arts, eclectic piano and string sounds, as well as surrealist overtones, and there truly was nothing like it in the hip-hop world at the time. Even now, it's an original album in a league of it's own. Get it. You won't regret it.

  • One of the greatest album of all times!
This album brings back so many memories. This started a wave that created one of the greatest movements in hip hop history. The Wu-Tang Clan symbol is the most popular of any hip hop symbol of all times.

  • Protect Ya Neck Censored?
Had a bad day and put this on. I realized for the first time that Protect Ya Neck, and only Protect Ya Neck, is the censored version. Everything else features the full vocabulary Wu-Tang and Parental Advisory stickers are famous for, except the track I needed today. Otherwise it is a great pressing, and sounds fantastic. ... show more

  • Good but possibly a lil warped
Was excited to get this, it plays and the price was good , however it looks warped spinning on the turntable looks wobbly. Which is a disappointment. I’d give more stars if it wasn’t wobbly

  • Hope you get a good copy
This is a review of the vinyl version, quality, Amazon experience, etc. not of the artist or music. Thankfully it all worked out in the end. The first copy I received was warped and the sound was at a very low volume even turned up high. I contacted Amazon and was issued a replacement that arrived in a couple of days. I had some apprehension that this copy would be much like the bad one I returned, but to my elation, I could feel right away that it was a heavier gram weight and not warped. The sound most importantly was also louder. Not sure what happens with these re-issues and new vinyl presses, different batches/runs, and where they come from, but apparently it's hit or miss. I see a few reviews complaining of the issue that I had yet rated it 4/5. If this wasn't resolved after receiving a replacement that was of better quality, I would have given it fewer stars. You're taking a dice roll apparently. ... show more

  • Great album, but awful vinyl pressing
Like many records these days, the pressing is poor quality. Warped record and audio very low quality. Of course the music itself is fantastic.

  • Just as described
The media could not be loaded. Purchased this for a Christmas gift. Came pretty quick and I’m good condition.
