Description

Engel Coolers’ ENG35 hard cooler and ice box is the industry’s first ever roto-molded high-performance cooler. Its rotationally molded construction provides a seamless finish and makes it one of the most durable coolers on the market. So durable in fact that the Interagency Bear Committee (US Dept. of Forestry) has approved this cooler as “bear resistant” when used with two padlocks or when bolted shut in both corners (molded on the rear side of the coolers lid). With its 2-inch, 360 degrees, closed cell foam insulation, and heavy-duty silicone gasket, the Engel high-performance hard cooler and ice box has the ability to retain ice for up to eight days in ideal conditions. Unlike its competition, this cooler has interchangeable, adjustable rubber and stainless-steel latches depending on your preference. Both latch options are compatible with the standard stainless-steel upper latch keeper that duals as an emergency bottle opener… yes, we thought of everything. This cooler boasts a myriad of other innovative features like its non-skid, non-marking cornerstone feet, built-in durable rope handles with ergonomic plastic hand grips for comfort, a pitched cooler floor with an extra-large large removeable drain plug for optimal self-drainage, and quadra-grip tie down points to easily secure your cooler.

  • Not a Yeti
Color: Tan
We bought this cooler against my better judgment but my husband insisted it was as good as a Yeti, but cheaper. I put ice in it and put it outside. Within two days the ice was melted. Next time it will be a Yeti.

  • This said the cooler held up fine. Here are a few of my findings
Color: Tan
Here is my initial review. I have used the cooler just once. This said the cooler held up fine. Here are a few of my findings. I needed a cooler that scouts could use and that would not break. So this cooler kind of fit the build. The construction is good, the hing is integrated, you can sit on this grill with no problem. The plug has a hole for a rope but no rope is connected. The seal is nice. The unit has such a seal that it is sometimes hard to get it open. Here is the thing about how well the cooler works. Most coolers get a bad rap in testing. I am guessing most put WARM items in the cooler like soda and beer to test. Now if you just spend a minute and think about it. It takes a ton of energy to cool liquid. So the ice will always melt and the energy is being removed from the inside not the outside. So in some cases this cooler will be less effective then a Coleman as the plastic is thicker which will pull energy away from the ice faster. This said the seal is 100 times better on this unit then the cheaper units. OK onto the bad side of this cooler. I do not like the Locks. They seem fragile, that is when thinking about scouts. There is an answer and it seems I can buy some stainless locks that look more industrial. Overall this cooler seems to be a good buy. Only time and campouts will tell. I think this cooler will last a life time with the proper care. I also like I can put a carabiner on the corner of the cooler to stop those pesky raccoons. ... show more

  • Worked for me
Color: Coastal White
My experience - I pre-chilled with some blue ice packs, chilled my food in the fridge, used about 1/3 volume in frozen water bottles. I still had some ice in the bottles at the end of a 5-day trip. I try to keep my cooler closed, but some stuff comes out for a while then goes back in (like PB & J, while making sandwiches). Also, the cooler lived in the car, sometimes in the sun, during the day. 75 degree days/45 degree nights. FYI. It just fits a 1/2 gallon milk upright if needed. It replaced an old, thick, Coleman Extreme that I used for years until, sadly, the lid warped. This was a better one, not what they make today. The ENG35 is heavier and more expensive, but probably adds a day to the ice. ... show more

  • Very nice, worth the money

Works perfect for the boat, ice lasts for a week.

  • Ice lasts several days; super solid
Color: Sea Foam
We ordered the Engel25 first, but it was clearly not big enough. There’s enough thickness on these things that it takes up a lot of space. But the Engel35 is a great size. Took it on a camping trip to Mexico where temps were in the 80s, and our ice (cubes) lasted for days even if the cooler was sitting in the hot sun. We weren’t able to get block ice there, so I expect blocks will last even longer on future trips. Just wish it had wheels. But it’s easy to maneuver. Great serious latches keep it sealed tight. ... show more

  • Worth Every Penny
Color: White
I've had this for a while, but the performance of this cooler is the best I've ever had. It sits in my truck all the time, and keeps food and drink cold for much longer than my original. I had looked at other brands, and compared to what I see in the field when working - and this unit (in my case) has out performed more expensive brands. Grant it, it's not an larger size as I don't need to haul more than a weeks worth of lunches or dinners, but the cost savings on ice has been noticeable. Have had 1 20bag (lower temps) last up to 2 weeks, extreme hot conditions can get about 4-5 days on a bag. Its a heavier unit compared to the 'box' stores, but definitely more durable. Sturdy handles, a screw-in drain that doesn't need to be removed to empty water and strong rubber latches to keep the lid down. Only aggravation I have is after loading ice, food and drink and getting to my destination, there is such a suction built up that I have to relieve the vacuum through the drain screw so I can open the lid, but I know at least its cold. ... show more

  • Worth the money!
Color: Tan
We bought this cooler for a 2 week trip camping. Although it claims to keep ice for 8 days, we didn't find that it did. It keeps ice about 3 days. We froze huge blocks of ice. That does better than ice cubes. I cooled it with ice days before we left. I am not sure that made a difference, but the cooler was never that hot. We were in at most 70 degrees in CO. But despite this, I gave it 5 stars for every other nice quality it had. My brother in law bought a Coleman Extreme, which we were going to buy. The first day he had it the hinges broke. We were glad we didn't buy one even though the reviews on the Extreme were very good. The cooler is a little heavier than a cheap cooler, but we didn't seem to mind. The gasket around the lid worked well, keeping warm air out of the cooler. We loved the water release on the side. It's nice not to have to open it wide. Simply unscrew. Pop the top to release some pressure so that the water comes out better. There's lots of room for food. I would recommend a meat tray to keep the meat out of the melted ice. Very satisfied overall. Worth the money. Hopefully, this is the last cooler we buy. ... show more
