    • Lid hinge mounting is questionable

Product arrived quickly and as described. Seems to be great value for my needs & mostly higher quality. The only issue I see is the lid hinge mounting. There is no limiting strap or built in stops for the lid, so it could easily be over extended & would break the hinges or pull the screws out of the lid. I plan to install a limiting strap to prevent this, as I am sure someone in my tribe would flip the lid open without thinking & break it. The latches and handle on top of the lid all seem to be very sturdy. I will be putting this to the test in my SxS over the weekend trip coming up. I will report back if there are any other issues than what I have already noted. ... show more

    • Almost perfect! Needs Important Modification!

Bought this to use on my L2 Fish paddle board while fishing. Its lightweight and very high quality. The only problem I have is the rod holder placement being on the sides of cooler and no option to put them on the back. I have a 30 QT cooler and there isn’t much shoulder room when using it to sit on when i have 2 or 3 rods. I feel very closed in and makes it difficult to paddle while sitting on the cooler. I am a big dude though, 6’2” 230. The other big problem with the rods being on the sides is you easily hit your rods with your paddle handle when you are sitting on the cooler paddling... when I switch hands the top part of my paddle hits my rods. If Engel was smart, they would At least put the rod holder brackets on the back of the cooler as well. Being able to Have a couple rods behind me and not to each side of me would solve both issues and make this a 5 star product for sure. ... show more

I have been drooling over Yeti coolers and researching them for quite sometime. I could never really bring myself to pay the price so I started to dig a little deeper and came across this. It is a third of the price of a yeti and as far as i can tell performed just as well as the Yeti coolers that some of our fellow campers had plus the added rod holders. We pre chilled the cooler and everything inside was either frozen or coming out of the fridge and we had ice and steaks still frozen into our forth day. The cooler was kept in the shade as much as possible, and temps were between 70-90 (typical summer for the New England area). We only did one ice run the entire week we were camping. We probably didn't have to but.... you know.... beer! My in-laws were very impressed with this cooler and ended up getting one for their sail boat. ... show more

very nice combo dry box cooler, the walls are a little thin but is not designed to be a permanent cooler.. I used it on a 3 day off shore fishing trip and it kept things cold upto 2nd day in the afternoon. It was how ever in the sun and about 84 degrees. Fishing rod holders worked well, however not heavy duty and small piece broke off the corner/edge of one But still usable. Work's nice as a bench/stool seat to rest your tired feet, would be great if it had a removable padded seat option. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to friends. .bonus note I also used it to store fillets after the trip for the drive home. .nice gadget. . ... show more

I bought this for the back of camping/fishing jeep. it will hold my poles while i drive around and have it strapped down. i was actually going to use this to keep my trout alive a little longer by using cold water and ice. I noticed there is no drain hole with sucks and i will have to modify later. i also read the ice doesn't hold but 2 days at most. I was hoping more days than that. oh well, I got what I paid for and hope it will keep my fish alive longer or it will keep the beer colder instead. ... show more

Great ice chest. It is very strong so that you can stand on it as you fish. I also hold rods very nicely in the boat. It keeps ice for about 3 days. The only thing that would make it better would be a drain on the bottom of the ice chest. Besides that I love the design .. I own two one to use in my work truck to keep water cold throughout the day and then another on my boat. I actually use both when I fish .. One as an ice chest and the other as a dry box. ... show more
