First and foremost, I definitely wouldn't say I'm a stationary expert. But as a university student who enjoys taking physical notes, I've gone through my fair share of it. Things I like: ~ There is minimal denting or bleeding through the paper. I almost exclusively use Sharpie S-Gel pens, which has a pretty thick ink and press pretty firmly into paper, but the bleeding is still far less noticeable. ~ The paper has more of a soft, creamy white/warm white color compared to the bright blue-white paper in standard notebooks. To me, it's more visually pleasing. ~ The size is roughly 1 inch smaller in both dimensions. So it's not a "small" notebook, but it does pack nicely into my backpack without being significantly taller than my books. The ONLY complaint I have so far, is noticeable smudging when using highlighters. I typically prefer using Pilot Frixion highlighters, but the amount of smudging while using them is simply too much in these. Even using Sharpie Smear Guard highlighters (my second favorite set) causes some smudging, albeit significantly less than the Pilots. I'm not sure if it's because the paper is a heavier weight, but I have not experienced this issue with either highlighter set in the past while using lighter stock notebook paper. Some reviews have mentioned issues with the plastic covers rolling up or the binding coming undone. I've only had these for two weeks, but see no signs of that so far. One final note, the notebook listing says, "3 Pack 480 Pages." What they mean by that is 240 SHEETS with 2 sides per sheet. So each notebook has 80 sheets of paper. I've included pictures of the Emshoi notebook compared to a Mintra college ruled notebook (a more typical notebook you would find online or at Target or something) so people can have a side by side comparison. Both sheets have notes written on the front and back pages, with notes also on the sheet below it. The highlighter test is on the Emshoi page and shows the smudging issue I'm referring to. At first, I was doubting whether to buy this or not since it was on the pricier side, but it was actually an incredible purchase! It comes with a lot of pages and all of them are very thick which makes it very good for people who tend to write very hard or uses a lot of different stationary (you can barely notice the ink behind each page). The cover plastic, which makes it waterproof. The paper is very smooth and the color is very light, cream-like, which I really like since it makes it easier to see your writing and easier to use the lines as guides. Highly recommend these notebooks for people who tend to write a lot and uses very heavy ink. It may be a little bit expensive but totally worth it if you have the possibility to afford it every time.

My son (now senior in HS) has been using these for years. He loves them. He has some quirks and the graph paper help him write especially for math, science, engineering. He has started using them for all his classes, for writing as well, he says his brain likes it. He also says he really likes that the paper is not stark white, it is softer more off white, ivory, or whatever, but not bright white, and he really likes that. He will keep buying these through college I am sure. The only thing he wishes is that they would use another method of binding, or cover the metal with something. As he pushes and pulls them in and out of his backpack they catch on one another and tear and deform. We are going to try some duck tape over the new new one and see how it goes to protect it. Over all though, he enjoys the notebooks.

Spiral notebooks seem nicely made. Plastic covers with rounded corners, slightly larger than paper. Pages are square corners. Double spiral seems to work well, though too early to know if it will hold up to life. Slightly off-white, but whiter than Midori paper, if that means anything to you. Dots are very subtle. However, cover labeling says 100 GSM. This seems a bit optimistic to me - 100 GSM is pretty heavyweight paper. By feel I would estimate thickness at 20-22 lb. Early test show very little feathering, slight bleed with a wetter pen flow. Certainly a usable notebook. So 4 out of 5 .

Quality notebooks with very nice, smooth paper. The paper is a light cream color, easy on eyes, and it’s strong enough to withstand the metal spiral (doesn’t tear too easily, but strong enough to stay put). The notebook is slightly smaller than 8.5x11 and is a great size for meeting notes. Not too big. Will definitely buy again.

Their small size allow them to fit on my desk, the grid lines allow me to organize my notes in a way so they are readable again. Paper quality and solid cover have never let me down.
