The initial use was horrible!! It took an hour to clean all the discolored area and was NOT caused by food drops but the initial heating. After that, it is great to use and clean. Rounded pots do not work as they "twirl" while cooking. You must use a flat-bottomed pot or pan.

Replaced a 20 yr old genair. Way better! Downdraft ducting was a bit of a challenge but worth it. The white is much easier to clean !

Unfortunately, GE 30 inch cooktop runs 'smaller' than Whirlpool cooktop I was replacing, My countertop cutout is 1/4 inch larger for Whirlpool cooktop, so GE would've 'fallen thru' & has different downdraft configuration. Because my basement ceiling below is drywalled, re-doing the venting to fit GE downdraft (from a Whirlpool/Jennaire config) would've required replacing, repainting drywall. So I had to abort the install & return the GE cooktop & buy a Kitchenaid cooktop instead, for more money & in black. I liked that GE cooktop was white to match my existing appliances & had 'merge a burner' feature. Having a cooktop sizing comparison or information that GE vs Whirlpool/Jennaire sizing are different would've been very helpful & appreciated so I didn't waste my time & Amazon installer's time to end up aborting the install. And Amazon doesn't sell Kitchenaid so I bought it from a brick and mortar store.

This absolutely can't be depended on to cook anything at a consistent temperature. If I wanted 350 degrees I had to put it on max temp and cross my fingers it would get to 350 and more importantly hold. Without purchasing my own thermometer to set inside the unit I had no idea when to insert the food. Unfortunately, when I talked with customer service at Empava, I was told that the video that I'd sent at their request ( twice ) showed it was working properly (I guess it is necessary to set the control to 100 degrees or more, higher than what you're needing. When I suggested that it felt like the regulator wasn't working properly, they disagreed but offered to send me one. I have to admit, I was speechless. I'm not a technician and didn't feel that was a workable solution. Besides, wouldn't it void my warranty for me to start tinkering with the oven? I'd just check out lots of reviews before making a decision.
