We had our first trip out in our Elkton inflatable kayak and for the most part I’d give it good marks. Can’t really speak to durability until we’ve used it more, but it is pretty comfortable and for the front passenger there is plenty of legroom. My 6’ tall husband sat in the back and he didn’t have as much legroom because of the seat placement, we may try switching but the directions say to put the largest person in the back position. It does inflate and deflate quickly and it easily fits in the included carrying bag. When inflated and out in the water we did feel secure. The only issue we had is that there are not clips for the back straps on the front seat to connect to and so we had to wrap the straps around the handle and clip it to itself. There should be two additional clips in that position on the kayak body. The seats as they come are not very thick and so we compensated by sitting on life vests for extra padding. The fishing pole holders worked pretty well. I’m not sure the holders for the paddles on the sides are going to hold up, but time will tell. Overall we are pleased with it, it allows us to get out on the water when camping -as a regular boat wouldn’t be an option for us -and this easily folds up and fits within the back of the truck. Tips- allow adequate time for it to completely dry out before deflating and storing away. And keep in mind that because of it’s light weight windy conditions can be challenging. ... show more

I absolutely love this kayak. It is durable, strong, and easy to handle. I am able to inflate it in less than ten minutes. It handles very well, and the seats are adjustable for a tall person. I had not issues with waves from motor boats and always felt safe. I gave this a four star instead of five for the following reasons: 1. Tow rope and glue for the repair kit are not included, despite the manual and description. This recently changed. 2. There are no cup holders or pockets. (So only have a bottle vs. a can. I used Velcro to attach a clear plastic cosmetic bag (for $1 fro walmart) to back of the seat to hold wallets, phone, etc.) 3. You sit low, so get a cushion to raise you up a little (if you are short) 4. The placement of the rod holders can get in the way of rowing (align your seats accordingly) 5. The floor air valve is like a strong beach ball valve. It “is” very sturdy and tight, however, so much so, the tab broke. the company is replacing the valve. 6. It might be a good idea to get one longer oar for the back for ease. WIth the narrowing of the boat in the front, the oar is fine. 7. Good luck getting the boat back in the bag....but still rolls up enough to transport in the car. Even though I have these items listed, it is more for your awareness and consideration to prepare for. I still love this boat and highly recommend, especially if you want to feel safe on the lake. I would be comfortable enough to take this out by myself and look forward to using it all summer long!!!!     • Since it was underinflated it was not such a comfortable trip nor enjoyable but that's my fault
I've only taken this out once and have learned the proper way to inflate it. Since it was underinflated it was not such a comfortable trip nor enjoyable but that's my fault. Now that I have the pressure gauge locked in and how to use it I believe my second voyage will be what I've been looking for and that's why I got the Elkton Comorant in the first place. Make sure the bottom front valve is shut also when you go out into the water and that way it won't be such a wet trip as well. These are just things to learn how to tweak while learning this craft and I'm sure I will be well pleased my second and many other times go around this summer on various lakes in my area. I'm especially impressed with the quality of the fabric it's made of and can see that it will hold up for many season. The only thing that I found somewhat annoying was the fishing pole holder to my left side while paddling that seemed to get in the way....but with proper inflation the next time maybe it will not make me aware of itself to bump into (we'll see). I like the mesh storage compartment in the rear and the roominess on the floor. I don't feel squished and can move around with my equipment and carry a lot of extras. ... show more

1st outing went well. Would have been nice to receive an instruction manual with the product but that wasn't in mine. Don't often scrutinize these but it could've come in handy for deflating & re-packing/folding the kayak back up. Reviewers who suggested a cushion under the seat to raise you to gain leverage were spot on. Also, as suggested we ordered 250 cm paddles which helped; the Elkton paddles are about 7" shorter so if you don't have a long torso, getting an efficient stroke not as easy. Seats are great. Also, altho' the supplied paddles perhaps fine for some or most, they do efficiently break-down for storage but because the paddles themselves screw onto the bar with a collar, water collects in that & so with every stroke you get a spray as the paddle comes out & up. The Carlisle paddles we ordered broke into 2 poles with the paddles fixed seamlessly, so no spray (the Elkton paddle is 4 pieces). Reservoir water only had a mild chop but kayak seemed very stable; we were happy & didn't feel unstable even with a few small wakes from boats. Reviewers also correct in that the valve for the floor is essentially just a large beach-ball type & we're hoping it'll w/stand repeated use w/o tearing away. Will use again camping this weekend so at this point, happiness would be a "5" but will wait on durability & to see if Elkton staff answer a question on best way to fold down the kayak given the bottom has 2 harder rubber spines that would be hard to avoid folding & here in dry CO, rubber & plastics don't do as well over time. ... show more
