  • Tiny Containers Excel in the Studio
Style: 82-Piece Pattern Name: Tray
I have used every storage system available for beads: round screw top containers, Jolie's Crystal Storage (now discontinued), plastic rectangles with flip tops, small Dritz containers with a separate lid, tubes with pull out tops, tubes with screw on tops, zip lock bags and small organizers with multiple boxes. Sides are either straight of curved. All of them have at least one flaw. The tops breaks, the bag rips, the tube cracks, the top is too loose and falls out or just too cumbersome to use. Elizabeth Ward has created a beautiful and practical tiny container for those who love small seed beads. Their beauty is that the closure cuts down on static electricity, which is an enemy to the smallest size 15 and 11 beads made. Static causes beads to cling to the sides of tubes, to spring out of other containers and in general make beading time a pick up affair, not a creative one. The perfectly designed side notches for easy removal, the tight fitting hinged lids, the clear, see through body are all what makes this a winner. No static problems encountered with this system. As recently as two years ago, they were hard to find and somewhat elusive. Now, due to their apparent popularity and probably due to the Darice branding, they are readily available from many online sources as well as sold in store at select A C Moore stores. Get out those scissors for coupons! I started out conservatively, with several sets of 13 tiny containers. Now I have 4 complete trays with 78 containers each. I'm very pleased and happy with this and recommend it to anyone who wants their stash organized, beautiful and easy to work with. ... show more

  • This system is just perfect for electronics storage (way better than the modular boxes ...
Style: 82-Piece Pattern Name: Tray
This system is just perfect for electronics storage (way better than the modular boxes specifically made for smd storage) The "tiny" size is perfect for all my SMDs, LEDs, and pretty much all the ICs (with ESD Foam) until you get into really big/long ones (talking 40pin). 2pin through hole resistors fit in the largest size of this kit without bending, but you can only fit 3 large containers per row in the lidded tray so I don't really consider this a very good solution for storing many of those unless you only use a few specific sizes or w/e anyway.) I was a jewelry designer for 10 years and I /wish/ this had existed back then, 1000 times better than those standard divided boxes that always mixed up your beads and findings when the cat knocked it off the desk, or worse the findings would slide under the divider tabs - split rings and seed-bead dividers/spacers drove me absolutely nuts, I ended up having to put them all in little bags, which defeated half the purpose of getting the box in the first place >.< This system would have saved me ages and ages of time opening and closing baggies for sure. Don't quote me as I retired from jewelry making like 10 years ago, but the "tiny" size looks great for seed beads, I think you could probably fit about a 5" tube of Japanese delica's in each. The large size would be good for pony's, for bi-cone crystals the "small" looks to be a good size. I figure the "medium" would be good for hook ear-wires. (3/16/2016 - Update with new pictures! I now have this mixed 45 piece set as well as the 80-some piece tiny set and I've just ordered an empty tray + an assortment of small and large boxes to go in it, as well as the deep tool storage tray. These things are /that/ awesome for my needs. Pictures: 1. The two kits I've received so far with all my little component bits in them (still organizing them, but this is probably the majority of the electronic components.) 2. You can mix and match sizes, put small's in with tiny's etc., it's fully customizable! 3. Close up with the lid on - it's a fairly tight lid, might be room for like 10 sheets of paper between the boxes and the lid so no worries about the individual boxes shifting around and such. Also the lid is quite clear, makes it very easy to see what bits you want.) Note - these are not the labels that come with the kit, those go on the lids, these are just taped on strips of paper (4 point Arial in word fyi) 4. The tiny (left) and small (right) box sizes. 5. The large (left) and medium (right) box sizes. 6. Bonus Thought - I'd gotten these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LN81J6?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_90 but the bigger plastic box they came in was broken in shipping - I discovered that the individual boxes fit in these Elizabeth Ward storage trays! Awesome. (They'd be great for flat findings and maybe ear wires, but not for beads - see my review on them.) ... show more

  • This is fantastic

This bead box is fantastic. The compartments are the perfect size for beads, the beads are easy to see within each little bead box and they have labels for the top of each bead box. Good quality. Highly recommend.

  • After Using This Storage System for Three Years...
Style: 82-Piece Pattern Name: Tray
This is my second review of this storage system. First, there are many ways to store/organize beads. After a few false starts and organizing failures, the Darice/Elizabeth Ward storage system, For Me, is the perfect storage system for all my beads, findings, and tools essential to every project. After investing in well over a dozen trays, the tool/supply container, as well as several supplemental trays, spare labels, and small, medium, large container boxes, and using them for nearly three years, I have three observations regarding tray, container, and label durability of this system whether one is considering purchasing/investing in one or two trays or an entire system. The Trays: The white clips on each side of the tray have held up perfectly. However, these clips are the most vulnerable part of each tray, and have broken off after I have accidentally banged into the side of a tray; none of these white “clips” have just broken off from regular use. Only three “clips” have broken off in three years. And today, none of them are showing signs of wear or malfunctioning. If a clip does just break off or the tray arrives damaged, the tray is defective and Amazon will replace it if you return the tray to them AND send the defective tray back to them (Amazon sends you a return label that covers the return postage). The Plastic Boxes: No matter the size, all the boxes perform as well as or better than the day I received them. None of the lids have broken off or failed to securely house any bead regardless of bead weight or size. I have found that approximately 5% of all the medium-sized and 5% of all the large-sized boxes are more difficult to open and close and require more effort to open safely than my strong hands can manage. I have resorted to opening the few more difficult boxes with my teeth, however, over time and usage they now open reasonably using only my hands. I mention this for those whose hands give them grief, or reasonably balk at the idea of using their teeth. The Labels: I place the labels upside down on the white lids, so the cutout shape of the label does not match the shape. It fits fine, and does not obscure my view into the clear bottom of the box. Since I have so many containers of beads, I found over time I preferred using the labels made for the boxes over creating my own (Cutting and pasting copies of labels, lasted two months). Remember, it is about what works for you. Also, some labels stick well and some don’t, whether they are placed on the top or bottom of the boxes (e.g., occasionally when I have more than vendor of the same bead, or combine the same model/brand of clasp but one is silver and the other gold, I’ll place a label on the top and bottom of the box - this helps me esp. when there is a difference in price between vendors, or to save space). My last “batch” of supplemental labels ALL curled up requiring clear tape to keep them down. This was an atypical experience, normally there is no rhyme or reason to which labels adhere well and which do not. Overall, about 70% of labels used adhere well, and the others have needed a little tape at the corner(s) or edge(s). If labels stick well a the outset, they remain stuck over time and vice versa. I use the finest Ball Point pen tip to write info on the labels - it will not smear, and will remain legible over time. One can use word processor software to set custom parameters to print info on the labels - after one very successful stab at this, I found this was too much work/hassle For Me. I quickly began using commonly used abbreviations in my bead descriptions. I use them consistently and have no trouble listing the quantity, make, size, shape, color, price per gram or unit, vendor on the labels. I write small, but abbreviations and consistency are the key to success. If writing small is too much of a chore, I know many who number or color code their labels, which then refer to a description/index that provides an abbreviated description of what is contained I each box. Thank You So Much to the reviewers who shared their experiences and organization systems in these reviews - you gave me choices and helped me to decide what would work best for me! ... show more

  • Sequin Storage - PICTURE ATTACHED TO REVIEW
Style: 82-Piece Pattern Name: Tray
**PICTURE ATTACHED TO THIS REVIEW** Wow! This system is incredible. I have been re-organizing my crafting and sewing rooms, and have done "painstaking" research on the best ideas for storage of all sorts of things. For the most part I can turn to crafter extraordinaire Jennifer McGuire for all my crafting organizational needs, and have utilized her ideas for stamp/die storage and embossing powder storage, but didn't like her sequin storage idea (she uses Craft Mates Lockable Organizers). I wanted something that would take up less space and be easier to move from place to place, as I have a stupidly huge amount of sequins. So my search began! I came across a lot of things that seemed "okay," but I really didn't want to settle on something just because I couldn't find the "perfect" solution. Then I came across the Darice Bead Storage System. I was skeptical at first regarding the size of the "tiny" containers, but thought I could always purchase the larger containers if needed. So, I ordered the 82-piece system hoping this would be everything I hoped - IT TOTALLY IS!!! My sequins fit perfectly in the tiny and small containers, and the lids of each container feel super secure. The trays take up so little space on my shelves, and they look so pretty filled to the brim with sparkly colors! :) I was a little worried about how I would be able to glance at the little containers and know what sort of sequin was inside, and because the tiny containers are so tiny, there's really no room to write size, color and type of sequin within; I decided that I'd just glue a single sequin on the outside of each container so I'd know literally at a glance which sequins were within. I used a dot of Ranger Glossy Accents and a pair of tweezers to attach the little things, which was actually kind of a relaxing task. The only annoyance I had moving my sequins to the containers was due to static cling. I grabbed a dryer sheet and some Magic Static Remover, and it helped some, but it still wasn't a scream-free process, but this has nothing to do with this system. I apologize for this review being so long-winded. I tend to gain speed in rambling when I start typing. Here's a short review: This product works amazingly well for sequins! :) ... show more
