This device seems to function; the bolt opens and closes, and seems to be triggered by the RFID cards. I tested it and allow the RFID signal through about 3/4 inch oak and likely a bit more so should work for what I want. If the battery were to fail, it seems like a paper clip or RFID card could be slipped on an angle behind the bolt and pulled forward to force the bolt down (not a bad fail safe). The issue I have is that it is designed to work with the app, or the app and the RFID but does not seem to function with the RFID cards alone. I can trigger the bolt to extend or contract, however once extended it always retracts after a few seconds, thus leaving it in an unlocked state. Why do I need the app to make this work? Seems like a design flaw. Some of us don't want our lives linked to a phone when the RFID cards work. The instructions seem to be a how to and as long as you follow its one and only path you likely will get success with this device. It would be nice to know what the 5 LED’s, mean 4 LED’s always white, all on or all off but no indication of what that means. The primary LED usually blue, but does turn green when the reset button is pressed. There is a beep that sounds and only seems to indicate that the RFID has been read and the device is actuated. I find this unusable in its current form based on its design and my desire to not install an app on my phone. I would love to change this review if some of the above questions are answered and I can be shown how to use only the RFID. In the mean time I will likely return this device, and look at alternatives: ROTHULT Smart lock, white - IKEA

The media could not be loaded. This product is incredibly easy to install. Although it did not come with instructions, it was straightforward enough that anyone with common sense can manage. Putting it together was not a difficult task. Once I finished installing the electric lock, I then downloaded the accompanying app. Creating an account was a breeze, and pairing my phone with the device was as simple as holding them close together. It only took a few seconds for them to pair successfully. Next, I needed to pair the two key cards that came with the lock. Placing them near the device allowed it to easily detect and connect with them. Just like that, the process was complete. This has been a fantastic purchase, and I would definitely buy it again. All that was necessary for installation was a basic screwdriver. Overall, I highly recommend this product for its ease of use and effectiveness.
