Features

  • Brand New DLP 3D PrinterELEGOO MARS 4 DLP 3D printer adopts TI (Texas Instruments) DLP technology to project the 405nm beam directly and concentratedly onto the bottom of the resin tank with up to 95% light uniformity. Tempered glass replaces traditional LCD screens with up to 95% light transmittance, effectively reducing light diffusion and stray light interference.
  • 2W+ Hours LifespanThe service life of the DLP projector is as long as 20,000+ hours, 10 times longer than the 2,000 hours lifespan of an LCD screen, which means you will save a lot of maintenance costs for replacing your LCD printer's screen.
  • Low Power & Ultra-quiet Printing12W ultra-low operating power is energy-saving and eco-friendly, with about 1/7 energy consumption of LCD printers. Since lower power consumption generates less heat, there is no need for a cooling fan to dissipate heat, reducing print noise below 48 dB.
  • More Stable StructureThe Z-axis linear rail is thickened from 15mm to 20mm, which effectively reduces the vibration amplitude during Z-axis movement and the layer pattern of printed models for better final print results. Sandblasted surface build plate with strong adhesion to improve the printing success rate.
  • Smart Voxeldance Tango SlicerThree printing modes are optional: static mode and dynamic mode (including smooth and high-speed mode). In dynamic mode, the slicing software will dynamically adjust the printing speed by the cross-sectional size of the printed model to reduce the impact of the release force, thereby improving the printing efficiency. In addition, ELEGOO self-developed a new open-source GOO slicing format, which is compatible with multiple slicing software without restriction.

  • Good Beginner and Advance User Printer
Purchased for primarily printing 28-30mm minifigures and tiles for tabletop gaming. I've not used any kind of resin printer before, and I've been very impressed. I'm not one for watching videos to learn how to use something - I prefer a written tutorial. However, there are several videos that will help if you wanted to watch before purchasing. Our MARS 2 PRO has done an amazing job. We've used it almost every day, and have found that the base settings for the included software (CHITUBOX 64) need to be adjusted based on your own personal preferences and what type of resin your using. It's been easy to adjust and figure out. Some things to consider: FEV film. It comes with two extra sheets, but they can get damaged pretty easily, depending on use. I haven't purchased any extra yet, but I will review it as well once I've used it. I did find some rolls, but still researching what kind I want to get. Cleaning. One of the video's I watched showed the difference between simple green and a 91% solution alcohol. I haven't used the simple green but judging on the products washed in the video, alcohol gives a better finish. 91% has not been easy to find, but it's worth searching locally, as a gallon online is around $25. I use it in the wash tank, as well as for cleaning out the resin reservoir. There does seem to be some resin buildup on the walls of the printer top, but it doesn't effect it's use. Just some of my observations. Here's my breakdown of the rated categories. Print Quality: Without spending over $500 for the base unit, this is amazing. The detail level is awesome, and the slicing software is highly customizable. We use the small supports, and after experimenting I now leave them at the default settings. The failed prints and the issues I've had have been due to lack of enough supports or adjusting those settings. A large print slice tends to stick to the FEV film if using small or thin supports. It then breaks at the contact point, and has to be carefully cleaned off of the film. For Beginners: Well, that's what I am. I do wish there was a larger text manual, but that's a user preference. I like to read directions, but there are a lot of videos as I've mentioned. There are some parts that are not intuitive, but with a little patience and practice it's a quick learning curve. Touch Screen: I'm a little confused as to why this is a rated feature, but it's there so I'll write about it. The file selection is easy, the thumbnail makes it simple to select them, and it isn't hyper sensitive, which is nice. It's resolution could be improved, but I don't think the added manufacture cost is worth it though, and the price is reasonable. I certainly wouldn't want it adjusted. As I get more experience I may update my review. If you decide to purchase this, enjoy it! I certainly know I have. Update 1: Our resin reservoir was punctured, and some of the resin cured to the LED lamp. I contacted ELEGOO customer support and received excellent response times and service. MORE UPDATE! We received the replacement LED. Made sure to watch the video recommended prior to replacing it, it really is easy. There is one CRITICAL thing you need to know. When you remove the LED, be sure to separate the glass from the screen itself. We learned this the hard way, and found it with another google search. So, heat the removed component up to loosen the adhesive (we used a hair dryer). ... show more

  • Very Impressed. This little printer is superior bang for the buck.
I have owned several 3D printers including one FDM and 3 different brands of SLA. I currently own an SLA printer that cost 10x as much as this little one. After using this Elegoo, I can't justify spending over $3.5k again because this one is great. The footprint is small. The operating noise is quite quiet. The print speed is impressive. The print quality is as good as my $3.5K. I bought the Elegoo 405nm standard black resin at same time, and that is what I've been using for the sake of this review. Setup of the printer was super easy. Instructions were not confusing. Just level the build plate, set Z zero, quick test of light source, then all done. First print didn't stick to the build plate and so I performed another level and Z zero which resolved the problem. Since then have done at least a dozen prints at the highest Z resolution settings and am very, very happy. Prints are clean with crisp edges. No artifacts and cornflakes flags hanging off the prints. The resin could play a role in these great results but since I'm using Elegoo resin in an Elegoo printer, there's no guesswork or tweaking settings to figure out optimal parameters for a resin. The software was the only aspect that had some disappointments. I did find the software to be easy to use particularly in my cases since I've experience with numerous slicing software. The software version provided on the included thumbdrive is not current though and upon launch, the software tells you that a more current version exists. In order to DL the most current, you have to create an account with Elegoo. I did that and upgraded to V 1.7 which was the advertised retail release. There is another more current V 1.8 but that is advertised as beta so beware. I successfully ran several prints on V 1.7 then I upgraded to V 1.8 to see what was different. That was a mistake. V 1.8 is NOT ready for prime time and did not seem to have proper settings for this model of printer. It did appear to have more enhanced features than 1.7 so I look forward to it being debugged and generally released in due time. One nuisance about 1.7 software is that any command that requires a pop up window, such as saving a file or similar does not pop up the active window in front of the software. In other words, the file save window is hidden behind the open software so you don't know if the software responded upon the command to save. I thought the software was hung up when I first encountered this behavior. The software wouldn't minimize the window either. So I did a Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up task manager but then when I closed task manager after seeing everything looked ok, then the file save window was brought to the foreground. This is repeatable and so it appears that it is a bug of the 1.7 software. What I do to avoid this is to not run the software in maximize (full screen). When I open the software, I just reduce it with 'minimize' then 'restore down' so that it doesn't occupy the entire screen. In this arrangement, there is not the problem of active window hiding behind the software. If I happen to forgotten to do this and encounter the bug again, simply toggling into and out of task manager seems to free the hangup and then display all the correct active windows. Another problem I had was that the provided thumb drive containing all the software and test model files on survived only one use. After I installed the software from it, I then attempted to copy all of the other files onto my PC to back them up but the thumbdrive failed and then couldn't be read at all. Couldn't even format it after that. Completely dead. ... show more
