We also both are big into smoking things - we have brisket competitions between us to see who can smoke the best brisket - it's usually a tie...heh! Smoked whiskey? Let's do this! I got him a cocktail smoker kit for his birthday over the winter, but when I saw this, I had to snag it for myself - an electric version? Yes, please! It's nice not to have to worry about my little torch for my other smoker kit to be filled up, or trying to use my candle lighter thingy to light up the wood chips. The media could not be loaded. This electric whiskey smoker isn't too bad. To begin in comes in a nice box that is suitable for wrapping, or for storing the item in when not in used. Nestled inside the molded plastic you will find the three piece electric smoker, instruction manual, a charging cord, a scoop/spoon for the woodchips, a small wire brush, and six flavors of woodchips. The smoker as I mentioned comes in three pieces. You have the top with the on/off button that also contains the heating element. The bottom with a mesh wire covered hole for the smoke to go through, and the solid metal basket. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the basket is loose which is a little bit of a pain as while you're trying to put the top on if the basket comes loose it can make getting the three pieces together a little annoying. The top goes on a specific way if you want to make sure the top of the smoker is level, and there are metal brackets that I think might be lightly magnetic to help hold it in place, but don't try to pick this unit up from just the top piece. It will come apart. For moving the smoker on or off a glass you need to make sure you are grasping both the top and the bottom. With one basket of woodchips you can probably smoke a few glasses of whiskey, and as chips start to get to the point of being burned just stir up the other ones in the basket and you'll get more glasses out of the same chips. If you want to try to do one or just a couple try to make a pile out of a smaller quantity of woodchips piling it high enough to reach the heating element. We use this method and find it works really well and wastes far less than if you filled the basket. To turn on the smoker you long press once until the blue light comes on. Then you do a short press until it turns green. If you see my video and have the sound on you can hear a hiss as the unit is running. It seems to do three bursts of smoke. You get pretty good smoke coming out of it by the time it finishes. When the light turns blue again it is done and you long press to turn it off. This is great for home use or to give as a gift to any smoked whiskey aficionado in your life, especially at the price which is quite reasonable.

I love a fancy cocktail so I was very excited to try this! The rechargeable smoker itself is great! It charges easily, works well and gets the job done! Very easy to use! My problem mainly lies with all of the wood chips that came with the kit. I purchased a kit so I could try a lot of different types of wood and see what I really liked. The wood chips that came, however, all looked the same and had no smell. It looked like they all came from the exact same bag and with no differing smells, that furthers my assumption. I have tried four of the six so far and have yet to tell a difference. It also didn't help that the product states "Made in China" and there were several typos in the packaging and instructions. So who knows where that wood came from and how it was processed. Needless to say, I had to purchase my own woodchips separately, which was very disappointing. Overall, great smoker but not sure it's worth the price with the subpar accessories!

One of my brothers is turning 50 in a couple of days, and this year I want to get him something special. He does enjoy his Friday night whiskey. When I saw this kit, I knew it would elevate the experience. It is a complete kit that has everything he needs to give his whiskey a smoky flavor. We will have to add a bottle of his favorite whiskey, which is to be expected. I like that it has a variety of wood chips so we can see how different ones work with different brands. There is even a small scoop and brush to help keep it clean. The kit is small enough that he will easily be able to take it to the parties and get-togethers over the summer. I can't wait for my first smoked cocktail.

Great portable cocktail smoker set. Everything you need is here and can be taken to a get together since there is no need for a flame to make it work. Now, it's easy enough to use and for the price makes a great gift for the whisky lover in your life. My only issue and why I knock off a star is that the two pieces do not snap together. There is a "magnetic" type of thing that I think is supposed to do that, but honestly the magnets are not strong enough to actually do that, so just keep in mind that if you pick up the top it's not going to stay on the base. I have other types of these that twist together and is much easier to not spill because of that.
