I bought this primarily to remove a well pump. Pump and pipe weighted about 220 lbs. Though the hoist probably could lift it without the additional pulley, we used the pulley to reduce the speed as we were lifting in 4' increments. It was still a little faster than I would have preferred. The brake stopped it cold when not lifting. The manufacture might consider adding a soft start to make lifting more smooth. I am anxious to put this on a track and move it to the garage as it will come in handy for lifting things into the back of my truck. For the price it is hard to beat...

I set this up using a piece of 1-5/8 unistrut across some doubled up rafters. Then I just plugged it in and used the control box. The hardest part is figuring out where and how to mount it. I purchased this winch to lift the 6ft bed off my K1500 truck. The winch handled it easily. No moaning or groaning. It just lifted the bed off the truck. The controls worked as they should up goes up and down goes down. Stops when you need it to stop. The winch did run faster than expected but I could have double lined it to slow it down. Definately worth the money.

Motor ran for 15 minutes with less than 10 pound load and overheated to over 300 degrees. Began to slow down and almost stopped. Not returnable according to Amazon. Not worth the selling price. Would rate less than one star if that was allowed.
