Looks great and keeps you toasty with two heat settings. There are two issues you cannot leave it on to use the remote whenever because a bright light stays on in the back and draws electricity 24/7 so it really diminishes the use of the remote as you will need to shut off if you want to sleep without light. Finally, the timer only operates by the hour. You should add a 30 minute. I have the more expensive bigger duraflame model in the living room and it has these minor additions and can be left on and soley run by the remote. With this said it still is a wonderful bedroom heater that is messmerizing.

I bought the first heater almost 2 weeks ago. Upon taking it out of the package it was apparent that the unit was either used before or it was somehow damaged, and it appears sharpie marker was used to cover up screw damage on the heater vent. Shipping box looked fine. Decided to give it a second chance, Packed it up and got a replacement. The second one arrived and it looked a lot better. It was a warmer day so I didn't have to run it overnight, so I had the flame effect on, but with the heater/fan off. I woke up and turned the heater on and found that the temperature screen was glitching out, and it couldn't calibrate the temperature of the room. Was 64 in the room but the unit said it was 73. Tried disconnecting it from power and that didn't fix it. Also noticed that overnight, the paint on the heat vent started chipping unexplainably when it looked fine the night before. Both of the units reeked of plastic off gassing, even if the manufacturer says it's normal, I supposed you get what you pay for. All in all, the flame effect is very cool, the heater components/build quality is utter garbage. Get a better heater if you can. This is a glorified flame effect decoration. What a shame.

The "Crackling" fire sound is not very loud at all. And we have had it less than a month, and it squeaks now when the flame is on. It's ok for the price, and still looks nice. Heating feature is good, although I don't feel the thermostat works. I leave it set on 70, and it said it was 79 the other night in the room.
