  • Bullstar, a pleasant surprise...a good solid and very versatile bass.
I have repaired and modified guitars and basses and other instruments for 50 years, so it's not much of a risk for me to try out a brand I've never heard of. Online research didn't get me very far either, not much said out there in Teh Interwebs, So, here's the truth. It needs a battery to operate, if the battery goes dead, so does yer sound, so be mindful of that. But the preamp is great, clean quiet sound, a wide variety of tonalities available. I was attracted to the vaguely Rick style of the shape. Beautiful finish and color blue. Its very comfortable to play, love the pickups and neck is very solid, tuners are fine. Very good buy for the money, I had no issues or anything to fuss with to repair. I didn't expect it, but this is now my "go to". Your mileage may vary, but I lucked out. ... show more

  • A TON of Bass for the money!
Color: Black
Don’t be afraid of this bass. For the money, you’re not going to find a better bass out there (especially since I got mine with big coupon savings). The Good: the active pickups on this are fantastic. SO sensitive and loud. Sounds a lot like the pickups on $600+ Bass Guitars with brand name Active Pickups. The Body is solid a heck, and the neck is great too (though the frets could use a little bit of filing on the ends to be even better). What to expect right out of the box (not bad, but just real talk): The fret board needs oil, badly. It shows up bone dry and took a fair amount of oil to get conditioned, but after a quick oiling and soak the fret looks beautiful and dark. The strings that come with it are “meh”, plan on swapping them out as soon as you can. The tuners on it are pretty loose on the neck and they don’t really get tight enough even with a wrench, but they do tune well. Plan on upgrading the tuners when you get around to changing the strings. Nothing about this bass should scare you away, unless you just HAVE to be seen with a brand name bass. This sounds better than my Epiphone bass and my Dean bass. ... show more

  • Nice guitar for price
Color: Red
This the 1st one received. Received with package damaged , gig bag has a big hole at top The guitar is tightly fitted in the box without space for protective padding at the top an bottom of guitar. If shipping box was bigger it would help. Rough handling by shipping carrier is most likely the cause of damage. Overall its a great guitar and sounds awesome. ... show more

  • Don’t do it !!!
Color: Black
If I could give it less than one star, I would this is a second guitar bought within a week and a half and they both came heavily damaged. This is all due to seller not properly packaging a fragile instrument. I don’t recommend due to poor quality and packaging.

  • Good Bass with Poor Setup
Color: Red
This arrived well packaged. Although, you can see in photo 1 that the gig bag was torn right out of the box. In photo 2, you can see that this is a beautiful looking bass with a tiger stripe veneer. It weighed 8.5 pounds. The action was insanely high at over 4 mm. There was a little fret sprout that resolved with a sanding sponge. There was an excessive amount of neck relief. So, through a combination of lowering the saddles and straightening out the neck, I got the action to a comfortable 2.5 mm. The truss rod worked well, and you can see in photo 5 that the cover is the window type that doesn't require you to remove the screws. I appreciate that. The fret work was okay with a few frets that needed to be tapped in to level them. And the falloff after the 12th fret wasn't ideal. The last fret actually was high and needed to be sanded. After the adjustments, the bass sounds very good. The active pickups didn't break up with the volume cranked up. And as you can see from photo 4, there is some shielding tape on the rear compartment lid and I'm not sure if the black paint is shielding paint, but it might be. The potentiometers are dime sized and the wiring is neatly done. The tuning keys are sturdy and tuned smoothly. Overall, this is a good bass that needed a better setup and a little fret work. The finish on the body is well done and attractive. The neck is smooth and comfortable. And for a little over 160 dollars with a current coupon this is a reasonable value for money. ... show more

  • Nice Bass
Everything arrived ( bass, bag etc. ) as pictured. The tail strap peg, was off so another was put on. The higher end fret wires were a little longer so those needed to be sanded down...other than that, A really nice Bass for the money.

  • Decent for a beginner but not the best
The media could not be loaded. I would like to start this review by saying I’ve been playing bass consistently for the past 2 years and have and played several other name brand bassist.when this bass arrived the first thing i noticed was it looked good and feels sturdy. However i noticed that it does have a lot of fret buzz which can easily be fixed by sanding down the frets a little bit. Also i noticed this bass has a very electric staticy sound. And before u say it’s my amp. My amp is a brand new fender mustang lt50 and i have never experienced a sound like that with any of my other bass. I believe it may be because it’s an active bass. But honestly if ur just starting and you js want something half good to start with this bass is perfect for you. But if you been playing for awhile and actually want something that’s good and reliable ur going to have to spend that 80-90 more dollars to get something good. I will be taking mine to the music store to get the frets filed down and see if they can fix the buzz noise. I also will be putting in new emg 40DC pickups soon. I’m pretty sure with some better pickups and proper set up this bass will sound great ... show more
