Features

  • BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS - The Debut 2.0 B6.2 raises the bar for bookshelf performance higher than ever before. With a black ash vinyl finish and newly developed tweeters, woofers & cabinets, these small-but-mighty speakers are unbelievably musical.
  • CLOTH DOME TWEETER - The soft-dome tweeter features wide-roll surround & takes response up to 35,000 Hz making them perfect for hi-res music. The waveguide improves directivity control & minimizes diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures.
  • WOVEN ARAMID-FIBER WOOFER - The aramid cone shape offers even greater stiffness and damping, far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.
  • THICK MDF CABINETS - The MDF cabinets are larger and internally braced for greater stiffness & strength, reducing cabinet vibrations. Plus, the front-firing ports prevent placement against walls or in bookshelves from compromising performance.
  • REDESIGNED FROM THE GROUND UP - The original Debut Series changed the game & now its changed again with the Debut 2.0 Series. Redesigned from the ground up, they sound more remarkable than the speakers that sparked a revolution in high-end sound.

Description

Improving on its award-winning predecessor was no easy task, but the debut B5.2 sets a yet higher standard, delivering performance in inverse proportion to its diminutive size. • Elac does it again!
Style: Pair
Previously I owned the 6.2 version and thought they were pretty darn good! Tried the UNI-FI (1st gen) and did not care for the sound signature. Cheap audio man's love for these had me intrigued. When these were on sale this past weekend for $179, I couldn't pass up! Glad I got them! These seem more balanced and cohesive than the bigger brother. The 6.2s are great but these are just wonderful to listen to. If you see these on sale for under $200, grab them! Definitely worth it! I have been waiting for the Debut Reference to go back on sale but these may take their place! ... show more

  • Unbelievable clarity and range
Style: Pair
I bought these speakers for our cabin and paired them with a NAD Hybrid 3020 amp. They have an amazing range and clarity. For $300 a pair it’s a steal.

  • Excellent speaker damage repacking.
Style: Pair
Love the speakers. I bought warehouse restock. The only issue was when they were repacked after inspection. They were pcked upside down. While this shouldn’t matter. The woofer dust caps were dented in. I’m thinking they were easier to re pack using the port on the front and connecting terminals on the back side. Also hitting the dust caps in the process. So great speakers for a deal. But not so pleased with the repacking sloppy work there. I was able to restore the caps with soft vacuum to pull back into shape. Onlt slight visual evidence of the damage. I have bought 2 pair of the Elac speakers. They are excellent performers. ... show more

  • These things are bumpin!
Style: Pair
The media could not be loaded. Bought these "Used". Must have been Open Box- they were brand spankin' new. I got a deal too and have not looked back. Easy to wire up (You do need some stereo speaker wire) and install. Use more wire than you think you need so you can spread them out for best sound. Front ported, can be put close to wall. Tried in several places in my home- these things crank. And they're crisp, handle Bass well, you feel it. Heavy cabinet-build, they look great, so happy I bought these. Sound fills the room or plays low as you need them to! Buy a set and treat yourself! ... show more

  • Very compact, very good speakers...
Style: Pair
The reviews of these speakers generally tend to rave about them, in particular for their balanced sound and substantially better bass response than you'd expect for a speaker this size. The speakers are front-ported, which means the best bass response doesn't require that they be pulled out away from the wall. I'm using them as main speakers in a home theater, and this Goldilocks combination of compact size and good frequency response makes them perfect for that purpose. Be warned that the price on these varies quite a bit. I was watching amazon for about a month and saw the price range from $240 up to $279, and I finally got them on sale for $199 (the "list" price is $329) At the price I paid, they undoubtedly a bargain, but I would have bought them at $240-250 if that was the best price I could find. Seriously, these are very, very good speakers for the price. ... show more

  • Overall Good Deal - Four Stars to Five, Updated Review
Style: Pair
As other reviewers have mentioned, these speakers tend towards being on the bright side for high frequencies. They are not mellow at all, and produce sparkle to the overall room acoustics. However, I can correct the brightness by adjusting the treble on my receiver, and/or lowering the equalizer Q for high frequencies. But stand alone, without any interfacing, these speakers are at the pivot point of being too bright and too sparkly. That being said, the entire sound is crisp, clear and clean. And to my ear, the bass is tight, robust, and natural sounding without boosting. As another reviewer mentioned, the Elac's need breaking-in; and in my case, some acoustic treatment for absorption is necessary. I bought these speakers to makeup a 7.1 surround system, and right now they're being played (stand alone) in an empty room that's under renovation, with bare walls producing excessive reflections. So it's hard to tell now how they will sound in the end. But I think these speakers have great potential and will fulfill my needs. The build quality is solid and heavy (the Amazon driver said the box weighed 50 lbs). I struggled carrying the large box up the stairs and to the room. The speakers are taller and larger than what I imagined they'd be - impressive. Definitely for top-shelf placement, or on speaker stands. The solid black matte finish, and the silver Elac emblem, give the speakers a hefty presence. I like them in every way. I've not heard any rattling from the covers - they fit snugly - but you have to make sure the speaker cover pins align perfectly with the holes in the speaker enclosure before setting gently and firmly in place. I really enjoy the new sound produced by these speakers (replacing Cambridge Soundworks bkshlf), without any distortion that I've noticed at higher dB levels. They sound great @ 40dB, and have carried well and loud @ 65dB. But good sound at any volume level is relative to the listener - some people will like these, some will not. I don't think any speaker, no matter the price, is 'one size fits all', and high price does not always translate to good quality. The Elac sound quality exceeds the price in my opinion. Enjoy, or not! UPDATE: 07/06/22 After breaking in, these Elac speakers are now part of a 7.1 surround array for 'side' speakers, or stand alone 2.1 stereo. They sound awesome for a bright and deep base accompaniment in sound room with acoustic treatments, and without that 'almost too sparkly' sound as stated earlier in four star review. I don't think there could be a better speaker for the price. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Beautiful Bright Sound
Style: Pair
I ordered these speakers after doing some online research and found them listed at or near the top of every list of great sound for the price. I was not disappointed. They have a beautiful, bright sound that only gets better as you turn up the volume. The mid tones and treble are clear, and the bass can be felt in the kitchen downstairs. Love ‘em! ... show more

  • These are adequate speakers for an average AV Receiver at a reasonable price.
Style: Pair
These remind me of my Sony bookshelf speakers from the 90s. Good enough, cheap enough.
