  • Great Sound
Style: Pair
Great sound quality. After moving into a smaller home, I sold my huge Klipsh speakers and replaced them with these small ones. Sound is better than ever even at lowest volume. I couldn’t be happier.

  • Great sound at a reasonable price.
Style: Pair
I'm using them as a replacement for my aged left/right floor standing speakers in a surround sound set up. I'm still breaking them in, but out of the box they have produced a nice clear low-mid to high range with a fantastic stage presence for my set up.

  • Overall Good Deal - Four Stars to Five, Updated Review
Style: Pair
As other reviewers have mentioned, these speakers tend towards being on the bright side for high frequencies. They are not mellow at all, and produce sparkle to the overall room acoustics. However, I can correct the brightness by adjusting the treble on my receiver, and/or lowering the equalizer Q for high frequencies. But stand alone, without any interfacing, these speakers are at the pivot point of being too bright and too sparkly. That being said, the entire sound is crisp, clear and clean. And to my ear, the bass is tight, robust, and natural sounding without boosting. As another reviewer mentioned, the Elac's need breaking-in; and in my case, some acoustic treatment for absorption is necessary. I bought these speakers to makeup a 7.1 surround system, and right now they're being played (stand alone) in an empty room that's under renovation, with bare walls producing excessive reflections. So it's hard to tell now how they will sound in the end. But I think these speakers have great potential and will fulfill my needs. The build quality is solid and heavy (the Amazon driver said the box weighed 50 lbs). I struggled carrying the large box up the stairs and to the room. The speakers are taller and larger than what I imagined they'd be - impressive. Definitely for top-shelf placement, or on speaker stands. The solid black matte finish, and the silver Elac emblem, give the speakers a hefty presence. I like them in every way. I've not heard any rattling from the covers - they fit snugly - but you have to make sure the speaker cover pins align perfectly with the holes in the speaker enclosure before setting gently and firmly in place. I really enjoy the new sound produced by these speakers (replacing Cambridge Soundworks bkshlf), without any distortion that I've noticed at higher dB levels. They sound great @ 40dB, and have carried well and loud @ 65dB. But good sound at any volume level is relative to the listener - some people will like these, some will not. I don't think any speaker, no matter the price, is 'one size fits all', and high price does not always translate to good quality. The Elac sound quality exceeds the price in my opinion. Enjoy, or not! UPDATE: 07/06/22 After breaking in, these Elac speakers are now part of a 7.1 surround array for 'side' speakers, or stand alone 2.1 stereo. They sound awesome for a bright and deep base accompaniment in sound room with acoustic treatments, and without that 'almost too sparkly' sound as stated earlier in four star review. I don't think there could be a better speaker for the price. Highly recommend. ... show more

These speakers have fantastic sound for their size and are worth every penny.

  • Great sound and build quality
Style: Pair
I want to preface this by noting that I paid <$250 for my pair. Currently, they are listing for $300+ and you have TONS of options in that price range. Overall, I love these little beauties. I currently live in a small apartment and needed something appropriate for the space. These fit the bill. Not sure I'd call 'em bright, but I do have the bass on my chi-fi amp turned up a smidge to warm them up. There can be a clinical aspect to the sound sometimes, I won't deny that. But at the price I paid, and given the rock-solid build quality, these are great. I may replace them with some wharfedales at some point, partially just to try something else, maybe see if I can't warm things up. Can't stress the source enough; playing mp3's through the bluetooth is fine but cranking some Floyd via CD really wakes up these pups. They are rockers and would pair well with a sub, I'd think. I should stress that these are currently driven with a cheap class D Fosi amp. I'd love to hear them through a quality class a/b amp, I just don't have the space. ... show more

  • Superb value
Style: Pair
I've had the Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 for a couple of weeks now. My ears are attached to a 60 plus body and there's "unclearly" :) been some audio spectrum attenuation. I've had a Yamaha YAS-107 soundbar connected to my TV for a couple of years so to a certain extent, this is a comparison to the soundbar. The Elac's sound very good in overall comparison, but the soundbar is better with higher frequencies and voice. Its signal processing excels at that. I tried running the TV audio through my Denon AVR-S750H and the Elac's but I easily prefer the soundbar for basic TV watching. It's much cleaner, more spacious sound. If I stream music through the TV and AVR, then the Elac's are much better. I had intentions of setting aside the soundbar and using the AVR with Elac's for both TV and music, but I decided for now to leave the soundbar connected to the TV, and use the AVR for music streaming. I bought a HDMI switch so I can switch back and forth easily between TV/soundbar and TV/AVR/Elac's, or use the AVR/Elac's discretely for music. It seems to be the best solution for me at the moment. I am curious what a good 3.1soundbar sounds like in comparison. All in all, I don't regret the Elac purchase. For their size, they sound very nice. ... show more
