This MathShark had great reviews and I thought this would be a great educational game to get for my 6 year old who really likes math. It is just ok, in my opinion. It does what it is supposed to do, but it is so boring. It does not hold the attention of a child (or me) for very long. You can download free apps that do the same thing but with more pizazz. It does what says it does and it has some lights that flash when you start the game or get a correct answer, etc. I just don’t see a child being excited to learn math with this. It would probably make a good addition to a classroom, but if you’re looking for something for to draw your child’s attention at home, this probably won’t be it. ... show more

Not a fan of the display. I find myself wanting to adjust it but there is no adjustment. The problems themselves are fine as are the various skill levels. It should serve well to hone math skills and present various challenges. But is it fun?

The MathShark is a wonderful tool for helping children build math skills. The device makes the process feel more like a game and less like work which keeps children interested in it much longer. I got this math tool to help my boys practice their math skills over the summer. This math game is a great tool. It's very easy to use, and has both regular calculator mode and game mode.

    • Fun for 6.5 year old
There are definitely activities on this that my 6.5 year old enjoys already, and I can see that there are many activities/levels that he will need to grow into. I think this covers a nice range of skills and ages. I recommend this product.

This is a fun handheld math game. Very easy to use. Does remind me of the 80s (which I like... gets my son off the tablet for a bit). Requires batteries. Has a stand in the back to prop it up on a desk. Would definitely recommend as a fun and different game for kids.

My wife works at a pre school with 3-5 year olds. They aren't really into math but the occasional kid is interested in what all of the older kids are doing.
