Description

America’s “sleeping prophet” offers his unique and inspirational interpretation of the greatest story ever told. In addition to his labors on behalf of the physically afflicted, the world-renowned prophet and psychic, Edgar Cayce, gave a series of 2,500 clairvoyant readings devoted to spiritual matters, with reincarnation as their central theme. This extraordinary book brings together the story of Jesus, as found scattered through Cayce’s readings, making available for the first time the challenging and thought- provoking contribution of America’s “sleeping prophet.” “...These excerpts make interesting reading and surely demonstrate the vitality of Cayce’s subconscious mind.”—Library Journal “The appeal of Mr. Furst’s book lies in the fact that he quotes at great length from the Cayce readings, and this should please the people who have been tantalized by brief quotations in other, earlier books.”—Nashville Tennessean Read more

  • I once found myself sitting at the scene of the last super throgh an OBE...
Format: Mass Market Paperback
What I truly appreciate about this collection of readings is that the author put an immense amount of effort into the collecting of these excerpts. This task was not for the faint of heart. I found myself on a quest to know more about the life of Jesus because I myself have had the ability to astral project, channel at times, and pull in much abstract information from the cosmos non-locally. Without any real faith in religion or Jesus, I once found myself sitting at the scene of the last super (through a very real out of body experience while in the waking state) and was transported to this very point in time. I was able to look upon the face of this man. I remain astonished that four times now I have seen this man, and without having any real belief in him during this lifetime. As many know, the Edgar Cayce library in Virginia is home to thousands of his readings - much of it has never been printed officially. One can't exactly buy the entire library in print, and so, the author went on a quest to discover as many occurrences as he could where Jesus or people who have ever been associated with Jesus, were mentioned. This is the most comprehensive list of readings from Cayce available in the market, without all the commentary. The author found that over the course of Cayce's life, hundreds of people who are in the incarnated state today which once lived in those times had at some point spent time with this man. These people came to Cacye looking for answers because of some deep familiarity they couldn't place. They themselves had no idea who they were until Cayce told them. This even includes a handful of the apostles. I want to take a moment and note that spiritual fraud is everywhere these days. There are 100's of claimed Andrews, 100's of Thomas's, and 100's of Magdalenes. The exhaustive list of "pretend masters" is in abundance on every street corner, as was truthfully prophesied during the last years of this age. Yes, most of the old gang are still around today somewhere out there - but the likelihood that we have any idea where they are presently is very small. They would have passed on since their time learning who they were from Cayce. You won't find them writing books or starting multi-tier pyramid scheme business efforts turning spirituality into an advertising campaign. This book offers 90% readings concerning the sojourns of various clients, and their tie ups with Jesus. Many of these random people were just exposed to him at one point or another albeit for only five minutes during the lifetime, yet the profound impact it had on their soul survived the last two mellienia. Most of these people hold no particular important role from those times. You will find mostly clues in these collections giving us deep insight into the man Jesus was and the impact he had on the people of these times - which is enormous. There are in depth explanations/descriptions of the last supper, crucifixion, and the resurrection. You will also read in depth information about the Essenes. Much was done to prepare for the coming of this man.. Lastly, Edgar Cayce confirms some HUGE things I would have never thought in a million years were true - the resurrection was real - very real. Also, Jesus really was born an immaculate conception.. My best guess is that the Magdalene, being in the female orientation, was subjected to the laws of the time, and of course women were not regarded as being people to access the divine the same way men could. Heck, to this day they aren't. Instead, we have superficial versions of female gurus who go on Oprah to sell their books and call it "female empowerment";. The world has yet to accept the divine power of the true face of the female logos. I am only sorry that Mary wasn't able to be the true teacher she was meant to be because of sexism, likely. There are many secrets which persist around Magdalene today and I propose that the world may never know until the time is right - not even Cayce. Not even the "experts" with the fancy titles.. This book is VERY worth your time - you can trust Edgar Cayce. READ THIS! ... show more

  • One Of The Greatest Books Of All Time
I see two main themes in this book. One is how the various incarnations of Christ into our world, going back to Adam and Atlantis and up to Jesus Christ, are inter-related. This gets into some of the more mystical aspects of the crucifixion. The other is how there were two groups of people involved in the events surrounding the life of Jesus Christ. One group of people had come into the world to allow Christ to be born and fulfill his destiny. Obvious members of this first group include Mary and Joseph but there are others such as Mary Magdalene and her siblings Martha and Lazarus, Christ's siblings, the apostles, and others. Somehow these people knew it was their destiny to follow Christ. This is the only explanation for how they so readily left their previous lives behind and accepted those awesome, and in many cases fatal, responsibilities. The other group includes people who opposed Christ. Cayce said that some of these people were reincarnations of the Sons Of Belial who caused the final destruction of Atlantis. Besides those two main themes there are other fascinating insights about the people and events from the period of Christ's life and other time periods. Cayce believed he had been reincarnated together with Christ at various times over many thousands of years going back to Atlantis, Egypt, Persia, and finally Palestine. With all of the interest in crackpot books like 'The Da Vinci Code' these days people might be interested to hear what Cayce said about Mary Magdalene and other things. He said Mary Magdalene was also the woman accused of adultery who was going to be stoned to death. Cayce said there were actually two different incidents like this where Christ intervened to save a woman from this terrible fate. Interestingly Cayce said that Leonardo Da Vinci created a painting of Mary Magdalene and somehow Da Vinci knew what she really looked like and the painting is accurate. I don't think the existence of this painting was known when Cayce said this. The painting has since been discovered. Some of the things that Cayce said aren't in the bible but they match up with that time period and do not contradict the bible either. As one example he said that the conflicts created by Saul (who later became Paul) led to the deaths of Lazarus and his sister Martha. Also there was a woman who was stoned together with Stephen, the first Christian martyr. There's an interesting section about a girl named Sarah who was the daughter of the inn keeper where Joseph and Mary travelled right before that first Chistmas day. Sarah saw the Star Of Bethlehem and held the Christ child and this created a deep belief within her. She was killed by the Romans during some sort of uprising. There are many, many other fascinating insights related to the life of Christ, the bible, and other things. Towards the end of the book there's some material that I don't necessarily totally believe where people think Cayce was 'channelling' Jesus Christ directly. Cayce's powers were not infallible. Even so I consider this to be one of the greatest books of all time. I view it as a sort of appendix to the bible. Since the 70’s I have followed Edgar Cayce books. This book is really interesting. Learned some things I have never known. I would recommend this book if you are a follower of Cayce’s.

  • Very thorough research and intriguing
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I’m impressed with the amount of research and organizing that Furst put in to complete this book. Upon reading the content, you will begin to notice how all of the readings regarding Jesus, his family members, and lifetime acquaintances are scattered throughout 14,246 of Cayce’s readings. To search all of Edgar’s readings for content related only to Jesus must have taken a great deal of time and effort. Now if you believe that Edgar Cayce was perfect in all of his readings, Gladys Davis was perfect as his stenographer and transcriber, Furst was perfect in writing this book, and his editors were perfect, then you have a good start toward believing Jesus was real and not just a mythological story created to promote love and peace. If there are any errors—since we are dealing with humans and our human imperfections—then some of the content should logically come into question. The bible itself—in my opinion—is a very questionable piece of literature. I believe that many of the bible stories were heavily influenced by alien sightings and interactions. In my research of Cayce and numerous other metaphysical and occult sources, it is my understanding that negative forces also get to have a say through channels, prophets, and writers. The bible, and Edgar Cayce, would not be an exception. Another interesting view to take while reading this book is this: John Van Auken, Director of the Edgar Cayce Foundation, does a great job explaining that Cayce’s readings regarding the Book of Revelations were not about Armageddon and the second coming of Jesus, the Book of Revelations was about opening and/or utilizing the energy centers in the mind and body. If this is the case, and the bible is not to be taken literally, word for word, fact, or history, then is the story of Jesus to be taken as real? Is it possible that the story of Jesus is really a story and not factual history? I recommend reading the book and making your own conclusions. I—being an imperfect human—can only surmise myself what is fact and what is fiction when it comes to Jesus. ... show more

  • Complicated
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Full of Cayce's readings that cover Bible stories and Jesus, spirits, souls, reincarnation, etc. Kinda challenging to wrap one's head around much of the information. I find myself revisiting the info to understand. I am not sure about the authors take/bias on all the additional info in the book. I wonder how " selective" the readings may be. Still fascinating read. Not something one reads quickly. ... show more

Life Changing. If your Spirit has brought you here. get the book. As a boy raised Catholic I had a decade of rebellion in my 20's through college indoctrinated to believe what all my professor stated as fact. Never once questioning the visible facts- until I started to question these world wise. For what they told me never reflected in my after college life. Something was missing. Since my eyes have failed me and apparently many other millions of people in a better more perfect understanding of the World- i decided to close my eyes. Literally. I proclaimed, "if the answers I seek are not in the visible world then they MUST be in the UNSEEN formate (not visible to the eyes). Well; the rest for me is kinda history. I at first couldn't believe my luck in finding the Edgar Cayce material! Full of complete transcript of a man able to see into the Unseen! I figured if his transcripts have survived this long there must be evidence for a better understand of the world. What absolutely Crushed me was the fact that I was trying to find answers to questions when the ANSWER where right inside me! Raised Catholic, I thought like many young minds today that the stories and sacred parables where for the old and sick- I was completely wrong. This book not only confirmed my childhood beliefs; It helped me be a better son, friend, and brother not because it conflicted with Christianity ON THE CONTRARY it solidified the Word of CHRIST into my heart. The book at times literally recites the Word of Christ word for word scene by scene with details lost to history; regained only through faith. Stop looking. Pause and when you are ready come back to the TRUTH!!! ... show more

Format: Mass Market Paperback
For anyone interested in the history of early Christianity and the Jewish cultural mix out of which it arose, this book fills in a lot of blanks. Even Elaine Paigles and other good historical scholars of the period do not paint such a complete picture. Of course, how could they; they are academics, not clairvoyants. Nor does orthodox christian docterain provide such a complete historical picture. Nor is this book a narrative. It is not a speculative historical novel such as Zealot (by Reza Azlan), so it is not nearly as entertaining. It is filled with direct quotes from Cayce's clairvoyant source. As such, it requires patient reading and the integration of radical insights. The insights contained in this book explain a great deal about the "pre-history" of the birth of Jesus, the critical importance of the Essene sect of Jews and the genesis of Gnostic Christianity. Best of all, the Readings are instructive on how to apply these insights and are personally inspirational. ... show more

  • An alternative view of the journey of Jesus and the formation of Christianity
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I actually ordered this book to read certain parts of the info as I am interested in Egypt and the pyramids. I realize it's compiled from Edgar Cayce's readings, but it just didn't read smoothly for me. I guess I was expecting more of a story like read. Some of what Cayce said in his trances aren't fully explained but this may be because no one was sure what exactly sure what it all meant. Perhaps an updated version of the book is in order for today's readers. Having said that there is some interesting notions in it such as the suggestion Jesus was the incarnation or reincarnation of Adam and had lives as others along the way to evolving into the one we call Jesus. But how would one substantiate it all? One has to either believe or not or maybe take away what resonates and what doesn't. Certainly Cayce himself must have wondered about it as it seems he was educated as a fundamentalist Christian so concepts such as reincarnation were certainly alien to what he was taught. There are also channels out there now, of which I guess Cayce would be considered one by today's standards, who claim to channel Jesus who say contradictory things so again what is one to believe? The book may be best suited for Christians who have not found what they need in their orthodox teachings and are now looking for alternative views. ... show more
