I haven't taken them out while it was super wet and rainy so I can't speak to the leaking issues others have had, but they performed very well in mud and mildly wet conditions. I had to return my original pair and get a replacement because there was a hole in it, but since then have had no issues. These boots are supportive, sturdy, and fit well. As someone who typically wears barefoot-style shoes, these are a bit more restrictive than I prefer. Still, they're a great option for occasional hikes and handle well in most terrains.

My wife was looking for a new pair of hiking boots for outings with me and her friends -- on trails, roads, and through the woods. I saw this pair from Eddie Bauer and decided to get them for her. She's worn them several times, and likes them a lot. The boots have a classic hiking-shoe appearance, with attractive coloring and a sporty style. The fit is exactly right. My wife put them on for the first time, then went on a vigorous trail hike with a friend. They did not need any kind of "break-in" period. The insides are cushioned nicely, and offer great support on flat ground or uneven surfaces. The sides are stiff and secure, and keep your ankles in a safe position on any terrain. The nubs on the bottoms offer great traction. The entire hiking experience in these is excellent. The one odd thing with these boots is the laces. As with another pair of Eddie Bauer boots I've tried, the two extra loops on the tongues work well to keep the laces in the right place. But when tightening the laces, the tongues get bunched up a bit. It's easy to push the tongues back down, but it does take some extra time when getting out the door. Once tied, the laces stay well-tightened throughout a hike. My wife has walked in the rain with these, and her feet stay dry, so they live up to the claim of "water resistant." These are great hiking boots. They are attractive, with secure footing, and they feel secure on your feet. I recommend them. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. These hiking shoes (I ordered the low tops) are very comfortable without being heavy and clunky like some hiking boots feel to me. They have a wide, comfortable toe box and hood tread on the bottom. At the time I ordered, these were priced under $70 which is a decent price for good hiking shoes. The outside seems water resistant, but I have not tested to see if they are actually waterproof, which I don’t believe they are. Size: 10 Color: Tan
I wear a 10M; these shoes were ALMOST perfect. I have high arches and while these do have decent support it felt too tight on the tops of my feet. The ankle was also a bit rigid but once broken in will have incredible structure for anyone with a tendency to roll while walking.
