  • Great movies!
Great movie! But mis printed the case as being DTS audio? Only was Stereo on both movies? I don't know why these weren't remastered to DTS. We have a high end theatre' in our basement. Has anyone else noticed this?

  • Great transfer/solid presentation/fun movies
The five stars are for Shout Factory giving us this film, and a great transfer. The first film is great, a Citizen Kane style retelling of what happened with a band and the people in it. The performances were solid all around, though I would admit the ending falls apart a little. The beginning had Frank and Joanne building a relationship, then at the end, it seemed like she was Eddie's girl. The relationships changed to serve the plot, and build an end to the mystery of what happened to the tapes. The second is great for what it is, but a lot could have gone differently. At the end of the first film (and it's not a spoiler to talk about the end of a 30 year old film) Eddie was revealed with a full beard and his hair parted like Han Solo. In the second film, which supposedly follows on from the first, Eddie's got a tiny moustache and a mullet, neither of which hide his face much, and make the fact no one spots him a bit harder to accept. Then, the first film is about "words and music," where Word Man was clearly the songwriter for the group and the reason for the band's success. With Tom Berenger not returning or even allowing his face to be shown in flashbacks, it's understandable the screenwriters had to adjust for that, but for Hilton to start talking about "Eddie Wilson lyrics," that sounded a bit grandiose. It isn't as if Eddie couldn't have been practicing in his head for the 18 years, but while I am picking nits, why didn't the new music sound more like "Season in Hell" than "Tender Years"? (The extras do explain the Scotti Brothers were trying to sell a soundtrack, which would be the real reason, but still...) The scenes with Eddie and Sal were good though, and explained why Eddie left well enough, and overall, it was a fun movie on its own terms, hence my leaving the rating at five stars. It would be 4 and a half if I were allowed. ... show more
