The X2 is a really nice frame pack for hauling gear or meat, or any other odd shaped items. Lots of molle locations to add attachments. There's a lack of smaller exterior pockets, but that's easily solved with a matching Eberlestock molle bag. This pack is amazing for my needs. I can carry a fair amount of extra gear while the frame allows me to stalk when needed while staying close to my body. My older packs bounced from side to side more. I hunt whitetail in the mountains. This is not for the average Treestand hunter. It will work great for that, but it works great while moving through terrain. It’s a little awkward carrying a quartered out deer with all the other gear, but it gets the job done. I would want a bigger pack if quartering and hiking more than 5 miles out after you get something. When setup for a colder day with extra layers it leaves much less space for your deer. If you took two trips that would change dramatically. I tried some other larger day packs from reputable companies, but this fit my needs more than any. The frame is light and gives the pack structure that allows it to stay ridged when strapped to your body. I am 5 9” wide shoulders maybe 175lbs. It fits great, but I wouldn’t want to loose to much weight. The waist belt seems like it won’t tighten well if your lower than 30 waist. If your looking for a saddle pack this is the one. If you maybe quarter out your deer but not always this is amazing. So happy with my pack ... show more

This will be the third Ebelestock pack that I now own. I was looking for a solid day pack and the X2 definitely fits the profile that I was looking for. The main storage is top loading, which isn't my favorite but for a day pack it's fine. On either side of the main storage are the hydration bladder storage "wings." The storage compartments can hold a 2 liter Camelback comfortably. There is a clip to hang the bladder from. The wings open up exposing a sleeve to insert tent poles, stakes, a knife or axe, etc. Again, just another option to organize your kit. There is a small top compartment that is not removable. It's good for the small accessories like a hat and gloves, rain gear or GPS. My 1st load out was about 30 pounds of backpacking gear. The X2 handled it with no issues. The X2 has the compression flap on the bottom of the bag that acts like a shelf. Combined with the heavy duty horizontal compression straps you can load up on other gear, animal quarters, a small duffel, whatever. I used it to load up my sleeping pad. In other words you can turn the day pack into a 2-3 night bag. Now you know why the Special Forces use this pack. Unlike other Eberlestock packs, the shoulder harness is not adjustable and the waist belt is a bit small. However the lumbar is well padded. The 30 pound load felt fine. Also, there is molle attachments all over. The two "Nalgene" sleeves are, like other ES packs, useless if you are using the wings for storage. I would definitely recommend... ... show more

This is a great bag and it's the perfect size! Superb quality! I was worried because of other reviews saying it was too small but as for me, it fits my torso fine and I'm 5'11.

    • BUILT IN FRAME, a little small, trouble with bladders
Great pack, it is a little on the smaller side, I'm 6 foot and I could imagine it sitting a little uncomfortably for anyone taller. The pouches on the side have given me some trouble in regards to my bladder(s), you really have to work it in there and depending on the size sacrifice some water. It fits all my camping gear great in the middle but I use a hammock/tarp combo, I could see someone using big sleep systems having trouble or maybe even a 4/5 person tent depending on what else you bring, all in all great material, a little on the smaller side and IT DOES HAVE A BUILT IN FRAME I didn't think it would because it wasn't mentioned in any videos or reviews I saw but thats a big win for me. In my opinion eberlestock always makes the best bags, it just can get quite expensive finding that right one. ... show more

This backpack is great for saddle hunters. Sticks and platform attach well and the side flaps are great for camera gear, go pros and other accessories. I’ve taken to South Africa, South Dakota, Kansas and Missouri in the last 2 years
