I was so obsessed with these when i first got them, then i actually started to use them and i do actually still love them very much, EXCEPT for the pruning shears. First issue was my fault, they fell into an empty planter and i didnt realize they opened and i sliced my finger...Second issue is that they have been properly stored inside storage and the shears have rust on them already. All the other tools are perfect and i use them daily in my gardening and greenhouse.

So let me preface this by saying I have a problem with breaking hand-held garden tools. The soil in my yard is glacial till (very rocky), and when I work my soil I do it with a vengeance. This means I tend to quickly bend most steel tools until the welds break. And injection-molded plastic tools are destroyed almost instantly. So far the best alternative I've found is cast aluminum alloy. It is true that I have snapped/shattered some cast aluminum tools (because they are fairly brittle), but for my soil cast aluminum has been the most durable choice. So when it comes to these tools specifically here are my impressions: The Good: These are solid cast aluminum alloy--somewhat brittle but very strong. This is probably about the most durable material for hand tools and, for me at least, is far superior to welded steel tools. Also these have a pretty pattern and come in a pretty box which is stamped with the same pattern that is on the tools. This makes them great for gifting to your gardening friends. The pattern appears to be applied to the tools as some kind of enamel, rather than a plastic wrap or paint which increases durability of the finish. Also the gloves that came with this set are surprisingly decent and have full rubberized coverage around each finger, keeping your fingers protected and dry. The Bad: The pruning shears that come with the tools are of very mediocre quality, and, while sharp initially, will dull quickly. Also mine came with some dings/imperfections on the cutting edge. When it comes to the other tools, if you use these for digging in rocky or rough soil you will quickly destroy the enameled finish on them. If your primary use is in potting soil or screened garden soil the enamel may last indefinitely, but in my soil the finish was thoroughly roughed-up after a few hours of work. Also while the tool handles do have a slight curve and some finger indents to make them a little more ergonomic, the fact is they are straight metal which means that unless you wear gloves, you're going to develop hot spots and blisters if you are using these for hours on end. If you only need to use them briefly (like to re-pot a few plants or set a few bulbs), then you should be fine without gloves. And if you do wear gloves you should be fine as well, even when working for extended periods. Overall I would say these tools are of very high quality (with the exception of the pruning shears which are just average). They are also quite attractive and would be very suitable for gifting. I'm very pleased with them and would recommend them as a solid choice.

Great giftable set for a new gardener or someone who could use a couple new things like I did. The set comes in a rectangular for easy gift wrapping. I needed new garden cutters and this set gives me that plus a few other things- thick rubberized garden gloves, shovel, hand rake, etc. Each item is exactly as pictured. Mine arrived with the cutter already open inside the package.. yikes.. but luckily I noticed that before reaching in and accidentally grabbing the blade part. I like that the garden tools feel sturdy in hand, have a good weight to them, and are enameled or powder coated so they’ll clean up easily instead of getting soil caked on them or rusted due to moisture. I think these will be nice and durable, long lasting for a basic set of garden tools. The sunflower pattern is cute, and they look nice and cheery on my potting bench. Overall these are a great quality set of basic gardening tools for the price. They feel like they will last and not get so dingy looking because of the smooth surface. They look great on a potting bench because the tools match, the gloves do not, but I just consider those an added bonus.

I want to start with, I’m not a gardener, but I have worked with hand tools almost all my life. These tools feel well made, and tough, and very comfortable. These feel like a very well-made set of tools. Their appearance? They don’t show any of those lines and joints of a sheet metal stamped into a bowl shape riveted to a cruddy handle then chromed. These show no joint lines, so single piece construction, the enamel/glazing is clean, smooth and the graphics are actually pretty pleasant to look at. Seems quality all around. I did take a turn at indoor gardening using these tools, but like I said I’m not a gardener, so my conclusion is, I can’t blame this set for all of the seeds I just killed. I’ve got to get someone to teach me to garden.... But I would definitely buy these for friends or family as a gift.

I have a bug thing, especially when it comes to bees, love bees, and this has bees and flowers. It is so cute! And it comes in a very pretty box, as well. The pieces are made of a sturdy metal, and should last for years. This set would make a lovely gift.
