I decided to take up saxophone at 69. I never played a musical instrument before! I didn’t want to spend a lot of money incase it wasn’t for me…but it’s been a year and I love it! This saxophone came with everything to get started. I have since updated to a 4C mouth piece. As for the sound…my husband is a sax player and says for a beginner horn it has decent sound but ‘blows’ a little harder than his expensive Yamaha. In short I love my horn and have had no problems other than the G# key had a touch of ?? That made it stick. But hubby flicked it off and everything else is great. But if anything does happen down the road it won’t be going into a sax shop and paying a couple hundred to fix it! It only cost 250.00.

This is an initial impression review after unboxing. The reason for this early review is I am already dealing with a major issue. The color combination delivered is different from the combination I ordered. The color combination delivered would have been my 2nd or 3rd choice so it is not a totally unacceptable color combination for my intended use. So after careful consideration, I have decided to keep the wrong color sax. One reason for keeping it is…. Upon initial inspection, the sax finish and mechanisms look to be in good condition with proper function. That is a little surprising because the sax came in its soft case which was packaged in a larger cardboard box with no bubble wrap or packing material around the case. So the case flopped around inside the cardboard box anytime the box was picked up and moved. So having this sax in good condition is ok vs returning it and hoping the correct color replacement arrived undamaged. All the accessory items came as advertised plus a tube of cork grease which is not in the list of things in the kit. I will update this review after I set up the sax carefully, do a detailed inspection., and play it for awhile. In summary, except for the color error and careless Amazon packaging, the item initially seems to be a good quality, high value product.

Off the bat everything looked nice for a starter saxophone. Came with the accessories listed however my issue and reason for the 1 star is that not all the keys work correctly. For example, the octave key opens with a SI and a LA (sorry I only know my notes like this) but once I play a SOL, or FA, or MI, or RE the octave will not open. The mechanism to open the octave seems loose but idk how to do the fix myself and I’ve heard local shops won’t even touch these type of saxophones bc they are not the highest quality. I was excited but what’s the point of an instrument that doesn’t play correctly if you don’t intend to have a $200 ornament? Idk if this is something the seller can fix or help with.

I ordered silver, they sent rose with blue-green key caps. Took the mouthpiece apart to place the reed, noticed that the ligature is all bent and misshapen. You really have to wrestle with the reed to keep it straight. I figure I’ll just tighten it up and it will conform to the mouthpiece shape.. nope. Because the ligature screws are cheap plastic, the moment you put much torque on them, they start to ‘pop’ and jump out of their grooves. But, horn sounds pretty good. Nothing appears bent on delivery. Pads all line up. I ordered a new mouthpiece so should be good to go…. but still rose colored. Maybe it’ll grow on me.
