This is hands down the best cleanser I’ve tried for removing stubborn mineral sunscreen—both on myself and my kids. It melts everything off gently but thoroughly, without any irritation or dryness. I love that it’s safe for sensitive skin and doesn’t have a strong scent. A little goes a long way, and it leaves the skin soft and clean. Highly recommend for anyone dealing with thick or water-resistant sunscreen! Just wish it was a little more affordable.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Use this for my baby and myself. QUICKLY healed me from eczema and atopic dermatitis that I developed post partum in combination with the lotion from the same line. HIGHLY recommend.

This is definitely not a typical oil cleanser m, in fact it’s more of a gel cleanser but it does contain oils and it definitely removes waterproof sunscreen perfectly. I use Isdin waterproof sunscreen and it comes off with one application but I still choose to use a regular oil cleanser first and this second and it leaves my skin super soft with no irritation which is rare because I use high dose tretinoin, spironolactone, tranexamic acid, azaleic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin c and pha so needless to say my skin is extremely sensitized and I absolutely cannot use any irritating cleansers. The avene is perfect! The bottle is huge for the price too….

This is a wonderful product, and my complaint isn't about the product but the manner in which the vendor "sealed" the top of the bottle with a ridiculous "tape" that was extremely difficult to remove! And the adhesive residue this tape leaves behind is darn near impossible to remove. This is an expensive product, and the vendor needs to stop using this tape or I'll never purchase it from amazon again. I can buy direct from my dermatologist and spare myself the frustration and time involved trying to remove the tape and its residue.

2023 Update: So thankful Avene switched back to the original formula! It’s much more gentle and less drying! The new clear bottle is great too because now I can see how much is left and the top unscrews easily to pour in other containers when needed for travel. I just hope they go back to the larger pump top (on left in picture) because it’s easier to press and control the amount coming out (using less soap is better when you have sensitive skin). Original Review: I first bought this cleanser from my doctor and it healed my Eczema. But this same cleanser purchased from Amazon caused some irritation. I contacted Avene and we figured out the product is authentic, but the formula was changed in 2019 to include Maleic Acid. The Avene website now list the correct ingredients. I found I can tolerate the new formula if I use a much smaller amount than the original formula. But the product is still very drying. I will keep searching for a better solution. For now, I’m continuing to use this only because it’s one of the few products that don’t contain ingredients I’m allergic to, and it causes the least itching/redness.

This is approved by the national eczema society however it caused my eczema to flare so bad that i had to start using steriod cream again and left the rest of my skin feeling dry. I use the Avene AD ultra rich cleansing bar which is kinda pricy for one bar of soap so I thought this would be a good alternative for the price. I think I will just stick to the cleansing bar for now.
