I have a large deep fryer that I use outdoors because it makes such a mess. I usually put a piece of large cardboard under it to protect my table from spills and splatter. I’ve found the cardboard to be ineffective since the oil seeps through and gets on my table anyway. I was interested in this grill mat to see if it can help. The mat comes folded up, so it was a bit lumpy when laid flat. Unlike the pictures in the description, both sides of the mat are identical, a shiny silicone material. This should be fine since they both seem to be as non-slip and easy to clean. To try the mat, I put my deep fryer on top of the mat and did a fish fry. After about a dozen fish fillets, hush puppies, and fries, there was oil all over the mat. The oil did not penetrate the mat, and cleaned up easily with a damp sponge and dishwashing liquid. I have tried using this mat for an indoor hotpot session as well, with good results. The mat acts as a heat barrier to help protect the table from excessive heat. As before it cleaned up easily by wiping it down. I can see this being used for a hibachi or any small grill. Overall, I really like this mat. I ordered this EasyAcc 24 x 31in Fireproof-Grill Mats for Outdoor Tabletop Grill to use under my small portable griddle. It kept the griddle from burning the wood table and it didn't melt. It's the right size for what I need and it's easy to take along in my grill bag as it's not heavy.

I was looking for something like this to put underneath either my charcoal, small-size Weber grill or an electric grill that I use depending on the occasion. The size of the mat was perfect for both of those use cases, so I was very happy to give this a try! I used the mat for a BBQ that we had with a family friend, as we only had 4 adults and I didn't want to fire up the bigger charcoal grill. I put the mat over the foldable table that we use in our backyard, then the smaller Weber grill on it; though the grill made a pretty big mess with both charcoal dust and some oil from the meat dripping, the mat was able to catch all of it, keeping the underneath table clean. It also seemed to do fine in terms of heat resistance, as I am sure the charcoal dust and oil were pretty hot when it dripped onto this mat. The clean up afterwards was fine - definitely easier than having to wipe down an entire table (or worse yet, for wooden or lower-quality tables, worry about it burning). I put some soap on it and washed it down with a garden hose, as instructed on the product description page; the surface of the mat is a bit sticky, so you will have some trouble if you want to wipe it down via your hand, with some sponge-like items. The garden hose route was much easier, and it will probably make it even easier if you had a bit of a pressurized system that you could use. Overall, I would recommend this mat! ... show more

Mat is very thin, but feels strong, and has a cotton hem all around. Big plus - easily folds up to save space, or for travel. Exposed to 450 degrees F, did not discolor. I ordered the 24x31 for a small grill. While I like these newer mats that are flexible and resemble nylon backpack material, I’m not happy with this one. This one feels about half as thick as others like it that I own. The edge banding sewn around this mat is only single stitched and doesn’t look like it was made to be durable. Another thing I don’t like is the texture of the material used. It looks like nylon material used in backpacks, but has a slight tackiness / non-slip feel to it. My grill is pretty light, but as I rolled it onto the mat, wheel marks and scuffs followed along. Light dust can be wiped off, but this seems to attract dust and dirt. The scuffs, dust and dirt shown in my review pics are after I wiped this brand new mat down with a damp rag. For the price I don’t think it’s a bad deal, providing the actual grease and flame protection works, but it’s just not the most robust mat of this type out there and I dislike how easy it shows dirt and scuffs. ... show more

I wanted something fir my table top fire pit which occasionally drops a hot ember out the bottom. This mat is reversible and well finished with black canvas edging. It is glossy and cleanable. I will likely also take it camping for under our small elevated fire pit. I have to admit that it is more flexible than I was expecting - I thought this would be stiffer material - but that just makes it easier to fold and go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ... show more

This is a well constructed fireproof grill mat that can be used under the grill on top of a table, or as I use it, under my grill cart (see picture). The mat works well to prevent any possibility of a table fire, or to protect your wooden deck against any hot items that may fall from the grill. A great idea for BBQ fire safety. ... show more

I got this mat for my Hibachi table top grill, because previously I was putting it on a wooden board but the heat was still getting through it and was melting the deck paint under it. So I thought this mat would help me use my Hibachi grill without paint damage, but unfortunately it still lets heat through very well, but it does protect the surface from direct flame. I even got a torch and shot the flame directly on this mat and it did not burn, but got very, very hot. I also find it interesting that this mat's trim has fabric which does melt when heat gets on it. I would recommend to improve the trim. It does protect surfaces from direct sparks, charcoal or flames, but it does not protect surfaces from heat. It did not work for my cast iron hibachi, but it might be ok for other type of grills. ... show more
