I originally ordered a 9-1/2 wide based on some reviews, and returned them because they were huge. I was also sent a used pair. After trying other name brands, I reordered these and ordered a 9 wide. The 9 wide is the perfect length and room to spare, but slightly little wide, and the heel area is too loose on me. I do wonder if the regular width could work for me. I kept them due to the comfortable toe box and softer leather. I have arthritis in my toes, and a bunion and needed a softer shoe. The leather is not as stiff or thick as other brands, and the shoe isn't heavyweight. They have a removable insole which is good, although I would of liked more support. I think the sole may prevent slippage. I would recommend if you need a wider toe box.

I am happy with the quality of the shoe. I am glad it is water proof and not made of mesh material (with the holes all around and on top of the shoe. Why would anyone want such a non water proof thing for a pair of shoes? Thank you for this quality pair of shoes. It is hard to find this these days.

I have had many Easy Spirit shoes of the years, and I have been happy with nearly all of them. I did return these only because they did not fit my feet right and were also a bit bulky. I will say they appeared to be well made, and for a bulky shoe they were quite attractive. I did return them, but I believe they will be a good purchase for most people. From the time I was four years old, I heard, "This is a hard foot to fit." so don't let my experience deter you.
