Finding a special instrument that seems made specially for you; can be just like finding the right pet or making a lasting friend. After playing this awesome alto saxophone from the Eastern Music brand; I knew right away that many hours would be spent playing it. Everything about this horn is right. The keys are not too small for my fingers which is a common problem I have, especially with the side/bottom buttons. The appearance of this is super detailed, with the dragon image looking like it was sketched on there, I love that type of artistic imagery because sketches are my favorite. This works as both an intermediate horn as well as a beginners horn, because of the complete ease of access to the buttons, and the ability to obtain sounds from regions of the saxophone that often are hard with less well though out designs. I am so happy to be able to try out this alto, because the soprano that I purchased from this brand six months ago, has became a classic in my instrument collection. The video I included has a few minutes where I am facing away from the camera; because I was temporarily struggling with popping out a few of the corks upon unboxing. I did not redo the video because i want you to see this being taken from the plastic, assembled then played without any adjusting. There are large blue protective foam pieces that need popped out, then small cork pieces. I recommend using a cooking skewer for the cork pieces, so you do not have a delay where your trying to remove it with something too small. A pointy metal piece can pop it out or pull it out by sticking the cork with a skewer end. The price of this is great because it comes with a nice case, strap, reed, cork grease, cap, and gloves as extras and the material the horn is made from are good. Being that I am familiar with this brand, I already figured the cork region would have a good/thick wrapping of a quality cork. I was right in that assumption because this horn has a wonderful layer of cork which enables me to swap out the included mouthpiece with a better one that has a larger opening. It fit on there perfectly, yet for this video purpose, I used the mouthpiece that was included, which I think is a size three or four. The sound from this is rich and full of warmth and soul. This has a genuinely great sound and the upper register works nicely. The lower registers are the most pleasing to play, in relation to this alto saxophone. This is easily a five star instrument for the price range and truly a unique horn. I recommend this for students as well as seasoned musicians. ... show more
