  • Well built Tenor Saxophone for price
Size: Tenor Color: Gold
I bought this mainly based on Better Sax review. It came double boxed, no damage. The overall appearance is very good. It weighs about 8.5 pounds. The mouthpiece, ligature, stand and neck strap all work fine. I use La Voz Soft reeds. The supplied reeds were bad. I checked pads for leaks with a leak light and found zero leaks. After 2 weeks one of the key guard feet popped loose. I cleaned and repaired temporary with gel super glue. The neck tenon is good but could be slightly tighter. The key work is a little rough but it works. I play it every day and really like the sound and resonance. It plays the notes from high F sharp down to low D. Below D will play with the right reed and emboucher technique. I use a Hodge silk swab. The swab that came with it is too big and will get stuck and has a lower weight that will ding your bell. Do not force it. I do not use the duster that came in the horn. ... show more

  • Great for High School Band
Size: Beginner Color: Golden
This review is written 6 months after purchase. My son wanted his own saxophone, so we agreed that he would pay half. He is very pleased with it. He said he can't hear a difference in sound between his Eastar saxaphone and the Yamaha saxophone that his bandmates are playing. His High School band teacher said he's doing very well. He was renting in Middle School, but was given an older saxophone with many problems (I don't remember the brand) so he learned, with the help of his teachers, how to fix problems on the old rented saxophone. The only problem with the Eastar was a sticky D key, (right out of the box) so I contacted the company and they recommended the BG pad cleaner which worked very well. Not really sure why it came out of the box like that to begin with, but the problem with the sticky key was fixed, and no more sticky keys. My son rated it 4 stars. One star was taken away because he feels there is room for improvement. However, compared to the saxophone he was renting (for 3 years) in Middle School, this is an upgrade. He is happy with his purchase. It's a very good buy for the money. The extra items it came with were also a plus. On a side note. Vandoren reeds work best for him. Though he did say the reeds it came with were not bad. I hope this is helpful, especially since I decided to wait 6 months before posting a review so that you can see how the instrument is holding up after 6 months. It is holding up well. 😃 🎷 ... show more

  • Quality + Price = Happy Customer
Size: Beginner Color: Golden
I just got this saxophone in the mail today. The sound achieved by the sax was actually way better than I expected. I used to play in middle school and high school and it literally has been 20 years since I haven't touched a sax, this is the perfect fit for someone who is ready to jump back in without having to drain your wallet. The package was a lil beat up from shipping you know those brutes at FedEx throw it harder if it says fragile. However the sax inside that super nicely packed case was unharmed, it came with everything advertised. Yes it's cheap items it's not high end gloves, reeds, mouth piece, or cleaning cloths however for starting with nothing this is all you need in one package. The synthetic reed that comes with don't throw it away like I did lol! It looked weird like a mock up reed it's very plain and black however it gives a full sound I'd say it's a better reed than the cane one's that come with the sax. I will suggest dropping a lil more cash and investing in your own 4C Yamaha mouth piece and some decent cane reeds depending on your level choose the right size I like 2.0 and 2.5 but beginners like young adults should probably start at 1.0, or 1.5. Always try cane reeds first before buying a synthetic one like Légiére reeds because those are 30 dollars per reed so you wanna make sure you have the right size before you blow your cash on it. From what I know Legiere will replace 1 reed per year if yours breaks or is the wrong size. Anyway back to the sax. The pads are very good for the price and the finish is beautiful with very nice craftsmanship. The mouth piece and the neck fit perfectly. Non of the keys stick. It also comes with a free sax stand usually those run for 30 bucks a pop. Not the greatest quality on the stand but padding is good and sturdiness is great it's made of a strong aluminum not bendable easily, and it's incredibly light weight. Frankly I'm amazed and I from now on may become an Eastar fan. The quality plus price cannot be beat. The sound is good enough for beginners and intermediates if you are an expert obviously I do not recommend this sax as the sound is not as warm as other saxophones out there. Would I recommend this product to beginners and intermediates? Absolutely. ... show more

  • A Really Great Horn
Size: Beginner Color: Golden
Have been playing this horn about an hour per day for 2 months. I have only great things to say. In tune, solidly built, seals fine, looks great. If you have been wanting to play but don’t want to spend 2 grand on a Yamaha, try this horn for under $300 and get moving forward. As always, be ready to buy decent reeds, maybe an upgraded mouthpiece, maybe a more comfortable strap. Other than that case is fine, all cleaning cloths and a decent stand come with the horn. Really having a great time with this saxophone!! ... show more

  • Nice buy, excellent price! Son fell in love with it!
Size: Beginner Color: Golden
Well honestly if you look up reviews, don't expect a duster, mouthpiece brushes or plastic Reed! Mine didn't contain any of that! It DID Contain what Amazon described! My son loved it! We can turn in the used broken Sax in the repair shop they didn't replace with a loaner till it was repaired!!! Very upset with store we rented from, $53.00 a month for a somewhat used alto sax with scratches and scrapes for 4 years before we own it vs $263 plus tax! It's a Chinese model but from personal research they don't make the junk they used too. Not saying they're top of the line for professionals, but for beginners, highschool and amateur adults, they are great and sound just as good, Save yourself $3,600 and get one of these instead! I might get one for myself in the future! ... show more

  • Complete package!
Size: Tenor Color: Gold
Shipping took a bit longer. Impressed with the complete package, which included a stand, neck straps, reeds, gloves, dusting rags, and a beautiful soft, durable case. Middle schooler is happy and looking forward to bringing and playing it in band class.
