    • Wonderful eco-wood tabletop easel!
There wasn't enough room for a full-size easel in my 3 year-old daughter's play area at home, so we decided to buy her a tabletop easel to save space. We own several other Hape wood toys, and I've always been impressed by their quality and eco-friendliness. Unlike most other wooden easels on the market, this Hape easel is made of solid, FSC wood, not engineered "wood" (e.g. MDF), which offgasses formaldehyde and other suspect chemicals. What's more, the Hape easel is finished with water-based, non-toxic paint, which doesn't emit harmful VOCs. Most importantly, my daughter is a huge fan! She loves the bright colors, and the handle (which doubles as a stand) makes it easy for her to carry around and set up whenever the creative mood strikes. The only reason I gave this product 4 rather than 5 stars is that it tends to slide around on the table when my daughter uses it. When drawing on the chalkboard or dry-erase board, you naturally push against the screen with the chalk or marker, which causes the easel to slide away from you. At first, I thought that meant that I'd literally have to sit and hold the easel in place every time my daughter wanted to draw on it, but then I came up with a solution. I bought a fairly inexpensive pack of clear 3M Scotch SJ5300 Series Bumpon Self-Adhesive Bumpers at my local superstore, and stuck four of them on the bottom of the easel stand (handle), where it rests on the table. Voila! Problem solved! Now, the easel stays put, regardless of which orientation my daughter uses it in (dry-erase/painting, or chalkboard). With this small work-around, this Hape tabletop easel has turned out to be perfect for us. Grade: A- ... show more

The star rating in Amazon for thickness and sheerness and easy to assemble don’t apply, so weird they asked for it. This is a very cool drawing board! Though IMPORTANT I keep it flat on the ground because tiny fingers could get caught between the board and support if the baby pressed too hard and the thing collapses. I also think if you choose to keep it standing don’t use super smooth surfaces like granite or wood. I also cannot attest yet to how tight the stand can be adjusted. My little man loves drawing with chalk and it’s the perfect size! :) ... show more

Bought as a Christmas gift for my special needs daughter. She loves it! Its MUCH bigger than i expected, i didnt look at measurements when i bought it. Seems well made. Chalk works on chalk board like its supposed to, included eraser is small, but adequate, it works well and magnetic part is handy. Only complaint is the twist locks dont tighten as well as I'd like. They occasionally dont hold and board falls, but work well enough most of the time. Only been using for a week, but so far am pretty pleased with my purchase. ... show more

This writing board is another well built and beautiful thing from Hape, and I ordered 2 for both of my kids. The only issue is the eraser brush. it does not work very well so I just simply use baby wipes to clean.

Very good portable art stand! My kid uses this stand every day for 2 months now. It goes on our dining table when in use, but easily folds into a slim profile and stored in a tight space. Kid loves the dry erase board the most. The chalk board not used much but I think because we only have 2 colors. All in all, space saving, aesthetically pleasing, durable.
