I needed to get the cups and items I keep in my guest bathroom off the counter. So I installed these shelves on either end of my guest bathroom counter. The shelves are very light weight wood, nicely stained, and easy to screw the brackets on. I recently purchased this set of four L-shaped floating corner shelves and have found them to be a practical addition to my space. These shelves are designed with versatility in mind; the brackets can be oriented so that the longer side is either on the left or the right. This feature is particularly useful as it allows the shelves to fit in various corners and spaces. Another advantage is their lightweight construction. They put less strain on the walls, which is a relief, especially for those worried about damaging their wall surfaces. Moreover, the shelves are quite affordable, priced at $25 when I bought them, offering good value for money. One of the unique features of these shelves is the mounting brackets. Unlike many others, these do not have pre-set positions, allowing you to place them wherever you like on the shelf. This design is especially beneficial for mounting to a stud on the long side and compensates for corners that may be out of square. (the corner I installed them in is greater than 90 degrees, so I was able to set the brackets further back when attaching in order for one side to be flush with the other wall, and to be firmly secured without putting strain on the soft wood of the shelves, see picture) However, there are a few cons to consider. The wood used is soft and lightweight, which, while beneficial for wall strain, also means it’s prone to marring and gouges. Care is needed to prevent accidental damage. The DIY aspect of the mounting brackets is a double-edged sword. While it gives you control over placement, it also requires careful installation to ensure consistency. This might be a bit challenging for those who are not handy with tools. Lastly, the mounting brackets that came with my set are longer on the wall side than they appeared in the product photos. This was a bit disappointing as they extend down the wall more than I would have liked. It's also worth mentioning that the shelves were slightly smaller than I anticipated. However, this is entirely my fault for not paying closer attention to the dimensions listed. It doesn't affect my overall satisfaction with the product; it's just something for potential buyers to note. Overall, these shelves are a solid choice for those looking for versatile, lightweight, and affordable shelving solutions, as long as you're willing to handle the delicate nature of the material and the DIY aspect of the installation. ... show more

I installed these as true floating shelves, hiding the brackets. I know they won't support the 40lbs, and the weight needs to be in the corner, but I tested and they don't buckle. Just turn your brackets sideways, and bracket the long side to the wall. You'll need to make sure you have the right brackets in the right places, as they are left and right, but they work well.
