  • Real Golf

Honest Review - Going to start off by acknowledging that this game is NOT Perfect. It is hard. It is difficult. It is frustrating. But I will say, I love every second of it. If you want to mindlessly shoot -20 on every course, this isn't the game for you. If you want a detailed Career mode where the courses are stupidly realistic and the gameplay is intricate, like the real game of golf, this game's for you. You have to really think about every shot, every approach, the wind, the elevation. It's like playing a game of 3D chess to get to the hole. Kind of annoyed that you need an online EA Account to get to Career mode. That's pretty stupid. But once you get by that hurdle and start playing the Majors and The Masters, you really start to appreciate this game for what it is: an honest stab at simulating the real game of golf. ... show more

  • Takes some getting used to.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
First, I got a new PS5 and it is my first experience with a Playstation since PS2. So some problems are mine with the PS5. So my initial installation did not install correctly and it was half working and I didn't know it and I was getting peeved so I ordered PGA2K23 to see if that was better. I've reviewed that. Anyway, I uninstalled this. But I didn't want to go down without a fight and reinstalled it and it was a major success. Again PS5 learning curve. I created an account and then went thru all the menus to set up and there is no documentation. There are hints and tips though. It uses the old 3-click swing which helped when I found it in one of the menus. You can play against computer opponents too, which I like compared to 2K23 where you can't till you get on the tour someday. I found the graphics dark, but I set the TV to Dynamic and it solved that problem. The graphics are great and I love the commentary. But they don't have the nature noises and crowd noises like they did back in the 2000 game. But in general, I have fun playing it and it has a ton of things you can do like spin and fade and stuff like that. More complicated than I think I will use, but if you are into it, it's there to use. ... show more

Fantastic Graphics. Lots of hits & misses. Swing machinics, hmmm. 3 click OK but Stick has issues with consistency (yes, some is Player fault). Challenges horrible in that too repetitive. Dislike having to replay Challenges 50 times on just 1 when you have 100 or more ahead. Putting, wow, feels do wrong in that you can't possibly judge Breaks, always too far, too short, too left, too right. Have to use Putt line, feels like cheating but not. I now just play Career & Tournaments. Rewards not enjoyable. Can't possibly max stats because you would need to Level up 50 times just for Driver & Putter alone. DO NOT purchase in-game stuff with your real $$$. Waste. (I did not). Overall fun to play, could be better. ... show more

  • Fun game play

Great game. Fun to play. Actually find myself reading greens a little better in real life which could be full of crap but who knows. But I do enjoy the game.

  • overkill
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
The graphics looked washed out. The faces on the different players look goofy and distorted. Hard to know how hard your swing will be with such a little tiny bar gauge. Virtually close to impossible to know that you are pulling and then have to push forward the joy stick and NOT get it off line. The game has a lot of IMHO overkill functionality. You almost have to use a full swing on everything. I played it for a few hours and tossed it back on the shelf. It is just hard to get into it much. I have a golf app on my phone that is way more fun. The graphics just dont look very real. They Look more like PS2 or old Nientendo, Also seems like you are stuck using their goofy looking players. I havent found a way (yet) to just create my own player. In my opinion this game isnt ready for prime time and was way over priced.. ... show more

  • No Career Mode for deactivated EA accounts
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
I had been waiting for years for a good new golf game to be released (is that strange 🤔) so when EA came out with this release I grabbed it. I enjoyed a couple practice rounds as the graphics and controls are pretty good. However, I quickly learned that, in order to use career mode and advance in the game, you need to have an active EA account. No problemo right? I haven't used that account in years but it exists somewhere. Well...as it turns out, the account was deactivated because I hadn't used it in so long. No problem, I'll try to get it reactivated. Nope...no can do. No problem, I'll create a new account...nope, apparently only one EA account can EVER be attached to a PS account. No problem, I'll call customer service, I'm sure they have seen this before and can straighten it right up...nope, there is no number for customer service I could find. No problem, I'll email customer service and I'm sure they can help me out...nope, they sent me a link to an article only tangentially related to my problem and closed the ticket. No problem, I'll just email an even more precise explanation of my callenges....nope, two emails more and never heard back again. Needless to say....an unfortunate end to my last EA purchase ever. Bummer. I really like ⛳️ ... show more

  • Pretty good
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
I like the game. But I’m no professional gamer like the rest of the reviewers… I only play every so often, and decided why not a slower paced game for the old man, as my son dominates the PS5… I really like the graphics, play looks and feels real … not scoring -35 under so I’m enjoying the game. The golf courses are realistic, greens are a little hard to read which I enjoy a challenge, all in all I think it’s a great game. I haven’t played 2k23 PGA and really not that interested as I don’t play much anyway , so I cannot compare and honestly probably wouldn’t even notice the differences… I’m just excited with the graphics and the in game commentary… ... show more
