With Dupli-Color Wheel Coating, you can remove your wheel or leave the wheel on your vehicle. Mask off all surrounding areas to prevent overspray and lightly sand or scuff, then wipe again. Shake the can for 2 minutes before direct application. Apply 2 light coats and then follow up with 1 medium coat to build color. It’s dry to the touch in 30 minutes and can be handled in 1 hour. Used this to refinish my wheel covers, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. With proper prep—cleaning, sanding, and using a good primer—the finish came out looking smooth and clean. One can was just enough to cover all four wheel covers evenly with a couple of coats. Spraying was super easy—no clogging, and it works well at any angle, which really helped with getting into the edges and contours. The paint dried relatively quickly and has a nice satin black finish that looks OEM. If you take your time with prep, this product will definitely give professional-looking results. Our leased Lincoln came with real basic 19-inch aluminum rims. Most of the packages had painted black "pockets" or whatever. Our just looked very basic. So I bought a few cans of this and some clearcoat and painted them. I cleaned them first, then used a scotchbrite pad to scuff them, then cleaned them again. It has been 5 summer months as they still look perfect. We will see how winter and road salt affect them. I know it is a leased car, so I expect to do a recoat at lease turn-in in two years.     • Horrible, don't waste your money.

I used the Duplicolor wheel clear on 3 freshly painted wheels. I used duplicolor wheel paint for the base coat and the paint was wonderful however, the clear was extremely yellowing and made the wheels look very dingy and dirty. I had painted the 1st wheel previously and used rustoleum automotive clear and it turned out perfectly but wanted to try the "duplicolor wheel clear", epic fail. I then had one really nice looking wheel (the rustoleum clear) and 3 dirty looking wheels (dupicolor clear). I ended up chemically stripping the 3 wheels down to the bare metal and repainting the wheels with the Rustoleum Clear, they all look great now. The duplicolor wheel paint was awesome but the duplicolor wheel clear is horrible and a waste of money unless you prefer your project have a dingy yellow haze. ... show more

So I did my prep work in great detail. Clean up any great off rims with alcohol before spray on the black coat. Went on really well and was so shiny and new looking. But I had bought the accompanying clear coat as well. The clear coat wasn't as shiny as the regular paint and it's almost dusting looking and felt sandy on the surface after. I will reserve final judgement after washing it and seeing how it looks after cleaning up the dusting looking final coat. Overall pretty good and my friends thinks it looks factory. If only I felt like the clear coat added to the final finish than taking away from it ... show more
