Some surfaces are coated with a rust and corrosion inhibitor, or is alluminum or other surface. This product helps to bind with the substrate. I use it as it is as its a grey, or greenish that matches a lot of things. Or a topcoat and it holds up well. I mean Rustoleum holds up well anyway in my experience but this adds another bond. The green product does not say automotive. Pretty much the same other than that! Not sure how this works on plastic, however rustoluem has another product just for alluminum. ... show more

Have used it on several projects. Always goes on smoothly and cover easily. Only complaint is that if you use a partial can. the nozzle may be clogged when you try to use the rest later.

I had aluminum chairs that I had to prime to get the paint to stick. I tried paint made for grills. Didn’t work. I needed two cans. Same product at the home improvement store was $2.50 more per can. Saved 5 bucks. So far the primer worked on the aluminum chairs. The new paint isn’t flaking off the primer. Chairs look new again. ... show more
