I cannot believe I got a dud. I relied on reviews especially upon paying $300 for a toy by the pool. I bought it for my husband and son to play. I purchased it for Christmas knowing, yes we would have to wait, as we don’t heat the pool in the winter. They Just started actually using it a few months ago; approximately February. The backboard has literally come unglued in all areas, I had to use E-6000 and clamps to keep one section glued/together. But before that used a low pressure cleaner to spray it down to rid it of dirt and debris; the actual blue lining began peeling. It wasn’t even external... you have to literally get between the plates for it to affect the outlining. I was already upset about that, and I am guessing the plastic was already compromised prior or that would not have occurred. I’m extremely upset as I hoped purchasing a more pricey product with relatively consistent reviews would have prevented the potential for having to purchase more like this in the future. But only 5 months in, 3 months of use, it is literally FALLING APART. I’m very disappointed and sad; I took a chance and it has made me look silly. ... show more

I received this product and assembled it with relative ease. It is sturdy and very well constructed. The backboard that came with it was plastic and strong enough however the blue paint on the interior box above the rim started to flake off as we played and hit the ball against the backboard. This was very disappointing as this is an expensive premium basketball hoop. I contacted the company through Amazon, asking what could be done to rectify the situation and was immediately responded to. The gentleman apologized and stated that they did have a bad batch of paint on some of the backboards. He said that he would send one of the backboards that they use in their permanent fixtures on pool sides that are set into the floor. The backboard arrived a few days later and looked identical to the one I had but was way more stout, It was heavier and when the ball rebounded made a strong thumping sound that showed how strong it was. The paint appears to be way better quality and a part of the backboard. We have been testing it for weeks now and there are no signs of flaking. It appears this backboard will be able to take anything we can throw at it. Now, I am positive this hoop will last for many years to come. Had an issue with the clear backboard separating from the frame after 1 month of being outside. Seemed unusual considering the great reviews this product has and it’s cost. I reached out to Dunnrite with my concern and they promptly replied. Apparently they had a run of units that had an issue with the adhesive product used. Asked for my address and immediately sent out a replacement backboard via FedEx. No hassle.... People make products great... by backing them with great service. This IS the hoop to buy especially for salt water pools. All components are stainless steel even the bolts. The pole, back board brackets, & hoop are stainless steel with plastic coating or solid plastic products. Easy to assemble and very sturdy structure. The base and rim are sturdy but the plexiglass on the backboard came away form the mounting and flaps when the wind blows and rattles every time the ball hits the hoop. Also, the lines on the plexiglass are flaking off and that makes it look cheap even when it is not rattling. We bought this for Christmas in 2019 and within two weeks of use in the summer of 2020 (we live in Pa so we could not use it before then) we started having these problems. I emailed the company and called and left a message and received NO response at all. NO RESPONSE!! The hoop was expensive but we spent the money hoping to get something that would last. We are now looking for a new hoop after just one summer. ... show more
