A little on who I am (as that matters in terms of what your relevant wardrobe is). I'm a father and husband, in his 30s, middle class professional. I don't go out and party. Not much need for evening formal wear. Mostly just business-formal and business-casual attire, then of course, something for family outings or just to smell nice around the house. I am an avid fragrance collector with an almost embarrassingly large collection of fragrances, including a number of high-end fragrances (numerous selections from Montale, Creeds, Amouage, L'Artisan Parfumeur, and other high-quality perfumeries), foreign imports including many attars and oudhs, and many, many synthetic designer fragrances. I have some of the best stuff out there but I'm not a snob about it; I love Montale oudhs but some of my very favorites are $10 to $50 per bottle. All of which is to say, I have a significant wardrobe, broad tastes in fragrances, and experience. Not a professional, but also not a layman. I'm not a huge fan of some of the other Dunhill fragrances, but Dunhill Man is among my all-time favorites. It does have a citrusy-floral top note, the base note is more sandalwood, and although it doesn't show up in the pyramid, I swear the combination smells like a "dark lilac". It is impeccably svelte, and for me, a go-to fragrance for any business-formal occasion - meetings with clients or executives, presentations, interviews. The sillage and longevity are both excellent for a synthetic designer fragrance, pretty darn near an "all-day" fragrance when applied to fabric. I like it so much that I've already purchased a new bottle, sitting on the shelf for the moment the first one runs out. It would also be terrific for formal evenings. It may be considered 'sexy' but not warm/intimate, as most of those 'reds' would use more ambergris and spice notes, cinammon or cardamom. I'm not too fond of those and despise Dunhill Red for that reason. Nevertheless, this is a truly great fragrance and a must-have for any professional man who takes his fragrance wardrobe seriously!

I own more than 50 designer colognes (my favorite designers being Armani (by far), Bvlgari, Burberry, Christian Dior, Gucci). This is my second favorite after Armania Mania (which is from paradise). I have all kinds of colognes - Aqua, Fresh, Citrus, Woody, Musky, Spicy etc. Dunill for Man has a sweet floral top note with a sweet, sophisticated musky dry down. Base note is musk and balsam. Very fresh, clean, masculine, sophisticated and soothing - not overpowering but lasts a long time (on me). This is as good for day time business wear as for a romantic evening out. However, it could be too clean for night time party wear for some because its absolutely not the dark, heavy, spicy type that some prefer for 'upping' their seductive game on a night out. This is one of the most pleasant, sophisticated and high quality colognes for men that will be universally appreciated - especially by discerning people who like classy sophisticated (as opposed to dark or loud) fragrances and if it suits your chemistry you will be complimented by women (and men) all day. This is not the type of cologne that you will pick up once in a while for a change - you will want to wear it everyday and buy again and again for yourself and as gift.

Received my Dunhill Man today, shipped from and sold by Amazon. It's not a fake, but it mat as well be, it's garbage. Apparently the US consumer market has been relegated to Dunhill cologne now made in the US, not France. This doesn't have any depth. It's bitter, faint, has zero projection, and is nothing like the French-made "Man", at least the French-made bottle I have from a few years back. The other reviewers are correct regarding color, the formula has plainly changed as can be seen by the color. I've included 3 photos; the new USA made bottle received today next to a French-made bottle half full from a few years ago, and a photo each of the stickers on the bottom of the bottle. If yours says "Made in USA", you lose. It's a greenish liquid which smells faintly reminiscent of the real original. If yours says "MADE IN FRANCE", and it's a brown color, congrats, you won the cologne lottery, use it sparingly, it's no longer available and you got old stock (lucky in this case!!!) Amazon needs to change the photos as I specifically looked to see it was indeed made in France. It's not, and that's not OK as its entirely misleading. I won't return it as I don't believe Amazon did anything untoward, but I also won't be wearing Dunhill Man after this purchase, and of course, will cherish the Dunhill fragrances I have left, including a 3oz bottle of original Dunhill Edition, which was gone and selling for over $100/oz for the real thing....until, you guessed it, it's now suddenly widely available again for bargain prices. Anyone want to place bets on Made in USA labels on that too? Dunhill is dead to me.
