It smells different than the soap to me. I'm a big fan of the leaf and leather soap next to the pine, but the solid cologne smelled too different from the soap. I did not like it. That is just me though and someone else may disagree and think it smells just like the soap. Its up to you. I highly recommend the brand and the cologne is good quality and comes with a lot for the money and will last you. Still love the brand and soap, just not a fan of the smell of this cologne. This is the nicest cologne my husband owns and a fraction of the cost of some of his other options. If you like the Old Glory soap or the scent of leather, you’ll love this. The scent lasts all day too! It’s the first men’s solid cologne I’ve ever purchased so I wasn’t sure if my husband would like it, but he loves it! And the tin is super cool. This is what I was looking for. I have a few other solid colognes but this one is one I wish I could get in an air freshener for my truck and my office. I grew up as a country boy so I love the smell of leather. This is a manly smell, I wish it lasted a little longer. I only smell it for about 3-4 hours. Duke Cannon makes some great products but they aren't the cheapest out there for sure. ... show more

I was hoping for an “old school leathery” smell and it is there. As a matter of fact I really like the scent. There is just one big issue for me: there is also a super intense sweet smell that totally overpowers everything else. When I take a sniff, I smell 20% of what I expect “old glory” to smell like and 80% of basically sweet bubblegum. My subjective 2 cents, but this scent is not for me. "... not like Friday night on Fraternity row." So reads the tagline from Duke Cannon, and it's so true. This stuff smells great, especially paired with Buffalo Trace body wash and Leaf & Leather bar soap, both also from Duke Cannon. I've received many compliments on it, usually something to do with smelling like a cigar/pipe shop, but there's amber with leather and vanilla notes; a warm, inviting scent. It's easy to take along too, I've had bad experiences with cologne bottles breaking in luggage, and with this one you still want to be careful because the tin it comes in will bend and dent easily, but even in that case, it's solid cologne so it doesn't spill. ... show more

I've bought this a few times, I get compliments on it, it's more leather than leaf but it works great as a base for any of my colognes. I just run a small touch of it on my neck or beard and I'm good all day/night
