  • Great for when you need a little extra help.
Style: New Model
I had a major heart attack right after Christmas, but I wanted to get back to an active lifestyle as quickly as possible. This chair cane was just what I needed. I found that in my early recovery period, I got tired very quickly. This chair cane was/is light enough and easy enough to walk with that it was just when I needed when there were no benches or chairs around. This gave me the freedom to explore that I would not have had otherwise. When unfolded, the chair is quite comfortable for short periods. I wouldn’t want to sit on it for several hours, but for 30 minutes or so it was very fine. My wife even made use of it and she enjoyed it. I’m writing in the past tense because I have recovered enough that I don’t need this any more. But it is useful enough and comfortable enough that I keep it in my car, ready for whenever I need or want it. One very small downside. It does take some practice walking with this as a cane because all three legs are very tighly folded together. You have to learn how to plant the back leg, walk forward, and let the cane roll onto the front leg. No problem at all once you get used to it. Just be sure the seat is firmly snapped into place. This is a great tool and I don’t think I would have been as far along as I am in my recovery without it. ... show more

  • Drive Cane Seat
Style: New Model
Useful if used properly and carefully per instructions. Small hard plastic seat gets uncomfortable quickly so not for extended periods.

  • Just perfect, very stable and easy to adjust height.
Style: New Model
I got this because I have a problem with standing for even a short amount of time. I really looked at a lot of different adjustable height cane seats before deciding to get this one. The only problem I had was figuring how to adjust it, which should have been a no brainer. I finally just pulled the legs down till the adjustment pen popped out, then lined it up with the hole i needed. It is very stable to set on and use. The seat doesn’t brush against my leg when I use it as a cane. It is very easy to raise and lower the seat. It is also lightweight. I could not be happier. I am 83 years old, a woman, 5’9” tall and weigh 125#. The seat is comfortable and just the right size. Update. I used my cane today when I went to pre vote. There was a long line in front of me. I used it a few times in line, when I got inside to vote I was able to set down to register and when I went in to vote, I stood up at first, but had to set down to finish it. It really made a difference. ... show more

  • Requires some strength & coordination
I bought this for a 95-year-old man, for use on hard surfaces such as roads, sidewalks and store floors. He tried it out first in the yard. The feet promptly went into the dirt and he nearly fell. This predisposed him to dislike it, so we ended up in an extended discussion of its use. He tried it in the house and had the same problem others had. He didn't know he had to straddle it, and the instructions were not clear. Once he got onto it correctly, he discovered he was too weak and shakey to get up from it easily. The cane will not go to waste. The purpose is to get him walking and strengthen his legs, but now we know we have to start with the Costco folding seated walker to build up his strength. We have others who can use it also, if they choose, but they are a bit put off by his struggles. Conclusion: This cane requires a certain amount of physical conditioning, and/or assistance from others. Folded, it does its purpose. It is light weight. Open, it provides a seat for those who wear slacks, but I doubt anyone in a skirt would use it. While somewhat awkward, it is sufficiently well balanced to hold someone. The main limitation is the user's physical ability and awareness of potential problems. It would help if the description included this information. As a spectator or shopping stool, it would be very useful. ... show more

  • Not at all safe; defective
Style: New Model
I bought this for an upcoming trip as I have to get off of my feet due to bilateral neuropathy in both legs/feet which I have due to a progressive illness. Upon receipt I tried to adjust the height on this to suit me and it was extremely difficult to press the buttons in to adjust this and I injured my hand trying to do it. It was not just me, my very strong husband tried it and he could barely do it either. Once I got this set-up, I was going to sit on it and it fell over before I had the chance to sit down on it. For this reason alone, I do not believe that this is a safe item to use for anyone. The seat is made out of a very hard unforgiving plastic and is very uncomfortable to sit on no matter how big your rear may be and how much fat you may have on it. In my case, I am about 5'4" tall and weight about 160 lbs. I would certainly not recommend this item to anyone. It is bulky, awkward, and dangerous, especially those with balance problems. Therefore, I believe that this item is a complete waste of money so please, do not buy one. If you are to the point I am at where you simply must get off of your feet and sit down (I cannot stand for much longer than 10 minutes on a good day), try another type of collapsible chair or even a collapsible wheelchair (these are quite costly and weigh over 25 lbs. but could be a good idea and/or investment if you are at this level of need). One that I was told about that is supposed to be good is the Collapsible Chair made by DRIVE. Warning on this however, the price is about 25 times the amount as this chair/cane costs. ... show more
