Dr. Martens Women's Voss II Quad Sandal, Black Athena, 8 OH...MY...GAWD!!! I am lovin' these darn shoes! I expected them to be heavy...like the typical Docs but no, no people...they are super lightweight. It's all an illusion. What a relief! The size 8 fits perfectly...so comfortable! I was worried I wouldn't be able to DRIVE with these Herman Munster shoes on but I'll tell you it's no problem at all. The shoe soul does have some curvature in them for comfort as well...and that is helpful because my feet are flat, flat...FLAT! I have daily chronic back pain...in a bad way but I was not going to pass up these stylish shoes...oh no...I thought let's suffer. But no...the do not cause me any additional pain in my back or anywhere. I'll tell you it's difficult to go back to a 'flat' shoe once you've been sporting these EXTENDO shoes that's for sure. They do give you some height! I get compliments all of the time on these shoes everybody loves them. I've read some reviews about the quality being bad and blah, blah, blah but they are just fine. Now sure...they are not the typical thick Dr Marten leather pieces but I'm actually thankful for that because that would add weight. I don't see a problem with the quality at all. These sandals ROCK! I’ve had several Doc boots and shoes, these are my first sandals. When you take shoes out of the box and they are so comfortable from the start that you just wear them all day every day, you know you have a winner! Like all Doc Martens, they just get better with age. Speaking of age, I am one of those people who doesn’t act their age and really need a good solid shoe. I have broken my ankle FOUR times! I am active, getting up and down from the floor several times a day, these move with me. AND look cool! This sandal is perfect because it not only straps on securely but once you adjust each shoe to your liking you can just slip them on and easily put the back strap up. Because of the breaks my left foot needs to be looser than the right. I wear these everyday. I am an artist so they will probably get paint on them. I think I’ll get a backup pair! ... show more

Buckles instead of Velcro on most other sandals are very helpful in keeping the sandals snug on feet. One of the few shoes I own that hug my high arch. Yay. Lighter soles than the usual DM soles are a plus. 4 stars bc I’m unclear about The leather straps. Nowhere except in the description does it say leather upper. It doesn’t smell like leather and it feels like vegan leather. We’ll see when I’m wearing them out and gut the straps or how they weather wearing them. My daughter is a BBW and loves these! Supper comfy, durable, strong, thick soul pads and soft in soul! She’s an avid beach goer and they hold up well. Not cheap but worth the money, we bought two for colors.

Love my purchase of these doc marten sandals! Although their overall material has changed from previous years I like that they are lighter in weight. I was able to comfortably walk for long periods of time without my feet hurting! Cute and comfy!

    • Could my seemingly endless search finally be over?

So far so good! I'll try to update this review after wearing them for a few more weeks. I'm currently taking the advice of several other reviews that I had read about Doc Martens. I am taking my time, to break them in, just wearing them, inside my house, gradually increasing the length of time, that I wear them. I have problematic feet & all too often I'll purchase footwear, being too quick to decide they are keepers, only to discover a few weeks later, (after I've worn them outside my home), that my feet are actually not loving them (or even liking them). By then I'm stuck with them, trying to re-sell them for considerably less money, than what I had paid for them! Because Doc Martens are not inexpensive, I'm trying to not have that happen with these! Also being slightly paranoid about jinxing myself, I will continue to remain cautiously optimistic that my seemingly endless search, may have finally come to an end, until I have worked up to wearing them around the house, for the better part of a day, without any protests from my problem feet, bad knees or tired back. I'm up to standing & walking around in them, for a couple of hours at a time. So far so good, & with not even so much as a blister! As far the fit, my foot length is about the equivalent of a woman's US size 7.5; my width is another story! Because my feet are fairly wide (they have been described as looking like Flintstone feet...lol), & depending on what kind of footwear is in question, I own shoes ranging from women's size 7.5 to 9.5, with the most comfortable pair being some women's size 9, Skechers, work boots. I had really struggled with what size Doc Martens I should order & finally settled on the women's size 8. That was definitely the right choice for me! The length is perfect & width wise, I have plenty of room! Because a good part of my decision to try these sandals out, had been based on several reviews that I read about Doc Martens, I hope my review might offer further insight and/or help clear up some of the questions, that I was still struggling with, when I placed my order! ... show more
