Description

With a sturdy, lightweight zig-zag sole with extra platform height, the blaire sandal by Dr. Martens has tons of classic doc's attitude and hard wearing durability — and is 100 percent vegan. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

  • The only shoe I ever want again
Size: 9 Color: Black Patent Lamper
Have you ever experienced love at first step? I have. In these shoes. I wear these shoes with literally EVERYTHING. They’re the only shoes I wear when I’m not at work. I put them on just to clean the house because they’re that comfortable. I even have tan lines stripes across the tops of my feet because these are all. I. Ever. Wear. They’re stylish. They go with practically everything. I get compliments on them at least once a week. Did I say they’re comfy? Even after 8+ hours of wear while walking- no complaints. And the quality? Even after almost daily wear for over a year (and not just going to the grocery store, I’m talking yardwork, cleaning, etc; I’ve been rough on these shoes), the straps are still solid as ever and the soles still have a good bit of life in them. The only thing that’s happened is there have been some small strings fray along the edges, which is to be expected with wear and are easily trimmed away. Upon purchase they had minimal break-in time, it was within a day or two they felt fully comfortable/broken in. This was my first Dr. Martens shoe experience and I can tell you that for a staple shoe in your wardrobe, they’re worth every penny. ... show more

  • Make your feet dirty
Size: 10 Color: Black Brando
I am a size 10 (6 feet tall) and have no issues with sizing as many others have experienced. I purchased from Journey's, both the brown and black pair of their gladiator sandals and I adore them. I've received many compliments on and a woman even chased me down in the airport (May 2022) to ask where I got them. They're fabulous in everyway. Now these Blaire sandals are a different story. Got these in July '22, wore mostly to work (office 3x a week, sitting 8 hrs a day and a month in and I noticed my feet were moist and pilly/ dirty. Gross. The ankle and the first strap after left dark marks as seen in the photo. I am now using discoloration serum to rid the marks. Always the standard of comfort, style and durability but these Doc Martens are a miss. ... show more

  • Size down!!!
Size: 5 Color: Black Brando
Holy moly, these shoes are great but you've got to size down. I'm normally a 7 in all other docs but with these I'm a size 5. I had to return these several times to get the right size. Overall once I got the right size they are super nice, have a little bit of platform and I can match them with every outfit. Love them :) ... show more

  • Need blister Band-Aids but worth it!
Size: 7 Color: Black Felix Rub Off
These shoes are so stylish! I haven't broken mine in all the way, however, so be wary of how much time it will take to break them in. And I highly suggest wearing socks or having band aids present for blisters after the first time you wear them! But, with that said, I would not hesitate to get these shoes. They can be dressed up or down, and add flare to your outfit. Order a half size down if you want them to fit well! ... show more

  • For once I can say I’m glad to have wide feet!
Size: 6 Color: Black Patent Lamper
I’ve wanted Doc Martens sandals for a long time, so when I saw them for good price I couldn’t resist. This is the first time I’ve purchased patent leather Docs, and although I had my reservations since it might be too shiny, I found it actually doesn’t look bad since the sandal design doesn’t make the shine overwhelm the look of the shoe. In fact, I think it adds a nice, funky touch that is definitely different from their traditional smooth leather. I tend to wear 6 1/2 in womens in general, but with Docs I tend to wear size 6 with not much problem—so I basically size down (1/2 size) anyway when buying Docs. So despite all the reviews saying to size down one size, I figured since I size 1/2 size down for Docs normally, the shoes should (hopefully) fit fine. And they do👍 It’s interesting to see—visually—how my foot fits the actual sole: I imagine that’s how my foot looks like on the sole bed if my Docs boots were invisible, lol. And the sandal cups my foot perfectly. I also find the sole and straps conform to my foot pretty well without much space in between. The ankle strap fits well too, although I can see that needing some breaking in since moving it one notch looser is pretty loose. And it’s surprisingly light, given the girth of the sole—it’s almost like a platform shoe! The thing I must mention though: I HAVE WIDE FEET. See, I wear a 6 1/2 size normally to compensate for the width of my feet, although I can wear size 6 on occasion—if the shoe IS wide or can conform to width (like Toms). Bottom line: if you find that you size 1/2 size bigger for shoes in general because of width, then these shoes may work out for you: just go 1/2 a size down. I honestly hate having wide feet, although it seems to have worked in my favor in this case—finally😆 ... show more

  • Ugh way too big
Size: 5 Color: Black Brando
I am not sure why shoe manufacturers do this. It is NOT true to size. I wear a size 5.5 and the shoe fits like a 6.5. I am wondering if they are UK sizes. Sadly, I cannot size down so I am returning them and will search for an alternative. The shoe is very comfortable and high quality, so this is disappointing. ... show more

  • I love them, but my feet are weird.
Size: 9 Color: Chalk Pink Hydro Leather
I was so excited when I saw that these sandals were on sale! I have one other pair of Doc Martens (Combs II Poly) that fit perfectly. I am a Women’s size 9, so I got my normal size, which I’m glad I did because I’ve noticed with sandals that I tend to have a wider foot than most, but a sorta skinny ankle. I put them on when they first arrived and have to say I’m disappointed with how short my toes are. They barely peek out of the last strap, but I think that if I were to have downsized, they would’ve been too tight. Overall, I love the style of them and they’re super comfortable. ... show more

  • It all worked out.
Size: 8 Color: Blackcurrant Patent Lamper
The product description suggests that these shoes “run big” and that it was best to order one size smaller. I did just that. These sandals were a gift for my wife, however, they ended up a size too small. I returned them for a refund using the label provided. Two weeks went by with a refund or even a reply. I checked the tracking number and saw that the shoes had been delivered. Still, I received no refund or even a reply. Finally, after less than stellar review and more emails, I was issued a refund. So…in a nutshell, the sandals were great, but a size too small, and I did receive a full refund. ... show more
