Description

The Maple is a women's steel-toe boot with plenty of technology, like a contoured memory foam SoftWair sock-liner with a moisture-wicking lining — and now comes with a medial zip. These Unisex 14 Eye Notched Welt Boots from the legendary Dr. Martens line are definitely the look for right now. The classic 14-eye boots with cap toe stitching across the forefoot are made with soft nappa leather that gives off a muted matte finish. These boots offer a HBD sole with notched welt tread and a fit that's true to size.Benefits of Nappa Leather Nappa leather is normally from sheep or lambs, which are remarkably soft and supple and primarily used for shoes where comfort is the key. The leather is made by tanning the skins with a soap-and-oil mixture, producing a soft and pliable leather.About Dr. Martens Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor’s immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history. • Perfect fit!
Size: 8 Women/7 Men Color: Cherry Red
I wear an 8 or 8 1/2. I got an 8 and they fit perfect, not tight and not too big. I don't need to break them in, they feel great! I get a lot of compliments when I wear them.

  • Great boots that needed no break in!
Size: 6 Big Kid Color: Black Softy T
I was coming to NYC for the Half Marathon back in March, and needed a pair of boots for the cool, rainy and possibly snowy NY weather. Since I live in tropical weather, I knew that I should get boots that could be versatile, that I could use in milder weather too, or simply for fashion; and if it got too cold in NY I could fix it by using a pair of merino wool socks. It’s been a while I’ve seen how cute Dr. Marteen’s boots looked, dressed down or up, but then again, for shoes I might wear 6 days a year I wasn’t convinced to go over budget like that. But after checking the sizing for women’s boot in their site, I realized that I could also fit into youth sized, so came to Amazon and found these ones at youth prices 😁. At this point now, my biggest concern was that all Doc Marteens’ reviews mentioned the painful, but worth it, break in process for these, with the race coming up ahead. Fortunately, my desire to look good won me over, crossed my fingers and purchased these. I am SO glad I did! I used them every single day at NY: went to pick up my race bib and strolled around the city the first day wearing these, and I just felt amazingly comfortable all day long. Wore them the next day, and the next, and the next… I can just simply say I ❤️ my boots. For reference, my feet are slim; since I fall in a half size I sized up instead of down and that did the trick. Also, I used mid-cushion merino socks and my feet were warm enough at windy 30+ degrees. The toe box felt ample, but not wiggly; the foot bed is very cushioned and so are the insides. I chose to not lace up fully, but up until the 5th hole, and then do like a ballerina wrap around and lace in the front, which not only looks good but also allowed my ankle to have a little freedom. The side zippers slide easily and stay securely closed when up. And the sole was sturdy to stroll out on the streets, bumpy sidewalks, the many stairs in and out of the subway, and didn’t make any squishy sounds indoors. To top it off, my feet were never hurt, which was a huge concern looking forward to running my half marathon (which I PB’d) without sore feet, or after the race. These boots treated my post run sored feet really gently, and allowed me to enjoy more of the city the couple days after. I’m very glad with my decision. I could probably fit one size down as well, which in boots, a little smaller looks cuter, but that would have needed some break-in which I could not afford. So, if you are an adult that fit in the youth sized Dr. Marteens (use the EU size for better reference) go ahead and pamper yourself with these great shoes at a much affordable price point. You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Good quality boot - laces are a little short
Size: 7 Women/6 Men Color: Multi
These are my first pair of Dr. Martens. I wear a size 7 shoe, and I ordered a Size 5 UK and they fit my foot fine---no tightness in the toes. My only complaint is that they rub my right heel where the stiff part of the heel meets the flexible shaft of the boot, but this can be fixed with a heel guard. They come up slightly higher than the original Dr. Martens but these are still shorter then mid-calf. They look great. The laces are too short, which means you have to completely unlace the first few eyelets to even get your foot in the shoe and then relace them, which is kind of annoying if you're in a hurry, but other than that the shoes are obviously made of good quality materials with sturdy construction and are made to last. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • Another Capitalist Casualty. Don’t waste your money
Size: 10 Women/9 Men Color: Black Greasy
I wore Docs for years and years in my youth. I don’t know if it’s because my feet have grown up or the factory moved out of England but, they’re just not the same. I ordered a size 9 (us), which I used to have to wear an insole in to accommodate for the heel being too big for my narrow heels/normal feet. These boots now fit my heel perfectly but were entirely too narrow on my forefoot. The length was perfect but the width was atrocious. I ordered size 9 (us) because I received the “For Life” boots years ago as a gift. Those were size 10 and much too big for my feet. They were too long by over an inch and my heel and ankle would swim around in them. They were so ill fitted, even with insoles, that I lost both toenails on my big toes from them slamming into the front of the toe box. I also broke an ankle stepping off a curb because of how much my foot moved inside the boot. I really wanted Docs again but these are ridiculous. Size 10 doesn’t fit by a mile and size 9 is the right length but way too narrow. What gives Dr. Marten?! What happened to quality craftsmanship? To top it all off, the greasy leather was stiff as a board and thin as hell. Dr. Marten’s Airware, another casualty to capitalism. ... show more
