Description

The Blaire is a versatile sandal packed with comfort and fashion. The Blaire is chalk full of Doc Marten DNA while being built on our new lightweight Ziggy sole. Adjustable straps ensure a personalized fit and a molded sock in each sandal means the fit is comfortable enough for all day wear. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air- cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

these shoes are PERFECT! They came in the doc martens box, wrapped so they couldn’t get scuffed. Super quick delivery. They are definitely pretty big so I would size down. I’m usually an 8 and I ordered a 7 and honestly I probably could’ve even gone to a 6.5 and it wouldn’t have been an issue. They are sooo pretty and comfortable! Definitely my absolute favorite sandals, super comfortable and can be dressed up or down! The one thing I will say though, these are my fourth pair of docs (the rest all being boots) and they were the WORST to break in. My ankles were absolutely raw and it hurt to move in them. My biggest tip is to get a pair of super thick socks and wear them for hours around the house, and also while wearing socks apply the wonder balm liberally and hit them with a blow drier to soften them up. I also got some cushioned permanent inserts that you stick on the inside of sandal straps from target, and they made a massive difference! Once I did all that I got them broken in and they’re amazing, but it definitely takes effort to get them to that point so be prepared! Also, these run large! I’m an 8 in doc boots and got these in a 7 and they’re still just a touch too big, but that actually helped a bit with breaking them in 🤷♀️ ... show more

I usually wear a 7/7.5 and ordered an 8 originally. They were much too big, so I ordered a 7 and they fit much better. After wearing them for a couple months they’ve held up perfectly, they’re well made and thick and heavy like a Doc always is. They’re comfortable, but the arch for my foot is just a little off as I have wider feet and the over the foot straps need some time to stretch. They are great dressed up and down and I get a lot of compliments on them! Super versatile and despite the arch issue I’d buy them in more colors! If I tighten the ankle then it holds my foot in better on the arch. There is a definite difference between the over the foot straps on the size 8 and the 7. If your feet are just a little wider, but you don’t buy wide shoes then I’d stick to your normal size for sure. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Absolutely love! I wear a 8.5 in everything, 8 if it's a wide shoe. I purchased the size 8, fits good lengthwise. But the straps seem to run loose, I am plus size and they fit my feet big. I did not get any type of blister or issues with the straps rubbing on me. They are comfortable and light. I own a pair of combat boot docs for more than 16 years and they are still in good shape so I hope these last a long time as well. ... show more

    • Sizing is hard for those with wide and flat feet

I saw everyone saying that they run large and to size down, so I did that. I'm a women's 8.5 typically, so I ordered an 8. While the length was fine, my foot was too wide to comfortably make it past the second strap. I could technically get them on, but my foot was bulging between the straps. I returned them for a size 9, which fit much better. There's a little extra space at the toes, but the straps are the perfect fit and there's no bulging. The sandals themselves are okay. There's not much support so you're heel slides out of the back of the shoe while you walk. Would not recommend for walking long distances. The soles are super bouncy comfortable, though, and they're not as heavy as I thought they'd be. So if you plan on being on your feet where you're not having to do too much walking about, they're great for that. ... show more

I am a 9 no matter what! I just received these!! I stood up and I put the ankle strap the tightest it would go on one, and the second to the tightest on my other foot! I ordered two sizes after reading the reviews! These are going back! The straps above the foot are way to loose! I easily was able to just stick my toes out from under the strap! I needed a Sandal with really good support! These are not them at my regular size!! Sitting here typing I realized I can easily slide my whole foot out! I’m hoping my 8’s arriving tomorrow will be a much better fit! As far as the sandal itself, I love them and the good quality is obvious! Guess I’ll be back! Wish they both came today as I thought they would! The people that say true to size I’m thinking have a much wider or chunky foot! I think mine are average to narrow and thin!! Size down if your just average like most of us! I’m back again! And I’ll add pics! As you can see above the 9 my normal size was a disaster! 8 got a bit lost but I finally received them! The 8 fit perfect! The only issue was it seemed my pinky toe was still sticking out a bit! I checked free people etc to see how it fit on the models and it seemed there’s did too! Only one way to see if they would be ok , and that was to wear them out! I did! When walking there was no issue with my toe! The fit was perfect! I only ran to the store and went to my bffs! As time went on after a short walk with my dog, I thought I may need a band aid on my ankle! I was desperate for supportive , comfortable shoes that I could safely walk in do to issues with my spine! These were amazing! And they look great! I got the patent and feel I can wear with anything and now I’m considering the white as well! I’m so happy they are finally here and I can’t wear them! I only wish I sized down and listened the first time as I sit and wait for a much needed refund! ... show more
