No “break in” was needed. A little stiff and heel was slipping when I first put them on but within the first time wearing them they softened right up and the heel slipping stopped.

The media could not be loaded. I’ve been eyeing these for a few months and was so excited to finally make the purchase. I’m a loyal doc girly so i knew I’d love them! They’re beautiful of course, but dude whyyyy are they damaged? I’m going to keep them i suppose because the shipping took a while but man am i disappointed. I’m hoping i can use leather polish to fix it or i guess I’ll just rock the damaged look? Bittersweet unboxing, hopefully I’ll get a partial refund or something

Loved the style & rugged look of these boots. A little darker than I like but were the only brown leather docs I've found that came with the flat thick platform heel. It's got a nice sexy "work boot" look that i wanted however, the shoe doesn't feel true to size. I wear a women's 9 & it felt like a women's 10! Also, wear of the boot was so uncomfortable & in the underlay of the tongue of the right shoe, there were some odd frayed metal??! poking through the leather?!? Must have been a production defect from when the round metal shoelace rivets were put in??! These it was cutting the top of my foot when I tried to walk! Very PAINFUL & would not be wearable in this state! These boots came from 3rd party vendor Zappos I can't vouch that they're not reselling defective Martens?? I am surprised these boots pass the Dr. Martens quality inspection but it's whatever?!! But... bc I love docs & this style, I am returning for a women's size 8 in hopes that the smaller fit & a different pair would fix all these issues, i.e. the sharp metal rivets poking through the inside leather & on the top of my foot??! These are heavier that my other black smooth jadons bc the leather is thicker & stiffer. I think this is oiled leather. There are light brown scuff marks everywhere. Gives it a "worn" look (guess it'sintentional). I'd say these are probably the least comfortable than any of my 7 pairs 😢 of Martens. The leather isn't as supple & will require a longer "break in" period than usual. Tbh, kind of disappointed as it feels the quality of docs have diminished a little over the past 25 yrs. However, the Martens brand is usually synonymous for quality-so I will always keep buying them lol! This boots style is nice & sexy but the comfortability is a 3 out of 5. Will try to post an update after the smaller size arrives. UPDATE: The boot is 5 out of 5 with the proper sizing. I got a women's us 8 instead of my normal women's us 9 & it fixed the uncomfortability of the previous pair I ordered (my black smooth Jadons are a women's us 9 & fit fine so not sure if it's this particular style Jadons that fit 1 size too big, weird?) With the size 8 they are 4 out of 5 in comfort. The size 8 still allowed room for the toes. I was also able to use a reg dr. Scholls pillow insole & it made the shoe SUPER comfortable! I wear thin nylon socks (but if you wear thicker socks, i think this might crowd the fit depending if you have a wider foot). The width of my foot is about 3.25" & the widest part of the boot is about 4" i think. A few wears should be a sufficient break-in period, if any. It's comfortably wearable from the box. The shaft is 6.5" from top of sole to opening. This is a little taller than an ankle boot but doesn't cut into my leg when I walk. The platform sole is a little over 2" in the back & about 1.37" in the front. The total height of the boot from the ground to top is 8.5" tall. The original color of boot was a dark chocolate color which I didn't like...so I lightened them by using a brush & buffed the leather. It lightened the boot several shades & gave it a kind of suede'ish feel & more worn rugged look, which is what I prefer. Looks kind of a milk chocolate color now. Also, I did this bc the original boot was an oiled leather material & very prone to easy scuffing (as ppl have reported the boot comes "damaged" bc of the scuff marks. With that finish it is inevitable that scuffs will appear so that's another reason I buffed the leather out). Weight per boot probably 1-2 lbs. Style & fit is 5 out of 5 with the proper shoe size. Love it!

I liked the look but for the first time in 27 years I got a pair that fell apart after wearing them four times. The right boot was missing a lot of stitches and you could tell someone tried to fix them with glue. I didn’t realize all of the missing stitches until it fell apart. Not the Dr Martens I’m used to buying.
