As described in other reviews, these boots are sturdy and well made with genuine leather. The Chelsea boot is stiff and expected to be so due to how thick the leather is. I headed the warning of other reviews where the boots were described as stiff and takes some breaking in along with them running true to size. The boots are a little difficult to get on and off but again with the structure and thick leather that has to be expected. The toe box is rounder than some other Chelsea‘s however I appreciate it, personally. Compared to my Sam Edelman Laguna Lug sole Chelsea boots where I had to get a 10 in due to how narrow the boots run, these run true to size. I normally wear a 9 which is what I ordered and they fit great. The souls have good grip on concrete and snow like the Sam Edelman Chelsea boots. I have two pairs of Timberman Courmayeur Valley Chelsea Boots and can say they do not have as much grip in comparison. ... show more

I want to love these boots, because they look great, but they are not well designed. The opening to get your foot in is TINY and the elastic panels are not very stretchy. I compared to some other boots I have and the opening is half the size. It takes way too much time and effort to get them on and off. Once you do get them on they’re comfy, but I don’t understand why they made them so tight around the ankle. Getting them off is even harden than getting them on. I thought they would break in and loosen up but after over a month (and now outside the return window) they are still a hassle to wear. ... show more

I love the non slip and quiet comfortable sole. I do not love how difficult it is to put these on and also to remove them. That being said, I'll order a shoe horn! These needed no breaking in, and walked through a very long and busy day of work on day one of full wear. (After the initial struggle to get them on, good grief!!) Longtime Doc owner, have worn several different styles but after seeing my daughters Chelsea style Docs I finally broke down and bought a pair. Bought the Unisex size 9 woman's/8 men's (I'm a male) and couldn't be happier. The break in has been a breeze so far and the fit is perfect. However I feel I need to address the reviews that talk about the tight fit and the boots being hard to put on. Some people are saying to buy down a size . . . DON'T, first these run true to size. if you are unsure of your size, go into any shoe store and have them measure you with a Brannock device for free - that will be your true size (I just went out and bought one as I sell a lot of vintage). As for them being hard to put on . . . buy a boot horn to go with them, the elastic will loosen up a little with wear . . . you want them tightish just to hold your foot in proper position, so a boot horn works great. I definitely will be getting these in a crazy horse in the Spring. ... show more
